Just about to start back on the Taillights again.
Thinking about going a different direction w/Four of these multi LED sealed Taillight/Brake lamps from American Superlite Inc. That way all will be the same brightness. Only problem is they only offer them in 4" size.
Another site I'm looking at that has custom mounted LED's is: http://www.lambertenterprises.com/

All you need is a 12v power source. A lot of people, including myself, use spare PSU's taken from old/dead computers.
I'm curious about the status of this mod as well. Debating on doing this to a set of JDM tails.
And how can you power the tail lights at home? I take it its some kind of battery pack. Thanks!

12v psu from old computers sounds like a good idea. Which wires from the harness should I connect to the PSU?

My aftermarket leds are wired up in parallel and im not sure where i should tie them into the existing wiring harness to have both led rings light up all the time. Do i just tie them into the postive and negative wires that led to the plug that is plugged into the stock led circuit board???
thanks in advance

The stock LED circuit board has three wires. Pos for taillight, pos for brake, and neg wire. I assume that you'd want the aftermarket LEDs to also light up when brakes are applied?

Connector on the left. You can see the three prongs for the wires. This was the first set that I made.

This is the second. Don't have time anymore to work on such things, but as mentioned in this thread, opening up the lights wasn't fun.

Well the way I have it wired and tested right now I have the aftermart leds tied into the tailights only.
How would I need to wire if I wanted to use them as a dual purpose for tails and brake light?
I hope I'm making sense EK

What kind of aftermarket LEDs are you using? I'm not sure how you currently have things wired. Any pics?
The stock setup uses the circuit board to create two levels of brightness by using two different levels of resistance. I wired extra LEDs from the wires coming off the circuit board from the white connectors.
