Get the M. It says a lot more than a Maxima, not to mention (unless they changed it, but I know all previous Maxima's were) that the M is RWD and the Maxima is FWD. That right there is a deal breaker for me.

Nevermind, I just read you want the M35X. Anyway, AWD is still better than FWD..still would take the M hands down.

I just checked Nissan's web site and confirmed that the Maxima is indeed FWD. Why they would build a nice looking "performance" car like that and make it FWD is beyond me. As was previously stated, that would be the deal killer right there.

why would they make the maxima rear wheel drive when it's been front wheel drive since the 80's? also, they wouldn't make the Maxima rear wheel drive, then it will just compete against the G--which no company would do something like that internally

Can we say Acura?

A RWD Maxima would end up being a rebadged G/M. They already have that segment covered.

I have to be honest, in this economy, does it make sense to spend the extra money???

I know the M is a good deal, and the Maxima isnt as nice, if it was me, i would go with the Maxima to save money, even if you are in good financial shape, it is time to tighten our belts and save money.

but if i had to chose hands down with no "economic" pressure.... M all the way...

So i guess i would be an undecided !!

The commercials I've seen for the car tout it as a 4 door sports car. This statement is simply not true with the car in FWD configuration. If they made it AWD or RWD then their claim would be more justified. It may just be my opinion, but you can't call a FWD car a sports car.

Just how is internal competition bad for a company? The money ends up in the same pocket no matter what business line it enters through. I would be willing to bet there are plenty of people who can afford a nissan but not an infiniti. My question would be, why would a company NOT want to position itself to be attractive to more buyers?

Again, my advice to the OP, if the price difference is not an object, go with the RWD/AWD option.
