Intake

Are there any batffles on the M45's intake like the G? If so how do you remove it? I definitely hear that same muffled sound after 4k that My G35 had before I added the Z tube.

I haven't delved too far into the intake yet since there's no aftermarket parts yet, but I can't see any baffles, tubes, or chambers in there like the G had.
I hear the same muffled tone, so I'm sure it'll benefit from an intake -- hope they're available this year.
I'd settle for a smooth tubed intake like the Z-tube, and a K&N panel for starters.

You could always remove the tube (if it's a similar setup to the G), see if there are any resonators, and if there are, install an exhaust patch on the inside lining to bypass the resonator....I just recently heard of a guy doing thisit's on a recent thread re: air box mod or Z-tube. Just an idea....

The tube is a similar settup, and once the weather breaks here, I'll get into the intake and see what's what. Right now it's too cold out there, but March should bring some good 'mod' weather.
I'm tired of waiting for mods to come out. This coming spring, I'll have something on there.
I've already done the exhaust.....modded it to true dual settup. I'll resurrect the thread and transfer it to here.
That mod probably gave some hp and tq, (no dyno), but it sure muscled up the exhaust note a little. Not too much, but enough to notice.

Looks like a straight forward mod you did....since stock already has dual a dual rear section.....great idea! I bet you definitely improved performance a little bit...just seems like common sense that you did (by eliminating that bottleneck)!

Yes, very simple and fairly cheap mod.....just a couple of 2" SS tubes about 18" long.
I really didn't like that "bottleneck", and besides the performance gain, it saved about 10lbs.
......that's another mod for this ride.....weight saving.....

Hi Neal, yes I even took that off for a while and plugged the hole, but no benefit, so I replaced it.
It seems to be some kind of expansion chamber... It's strange, but I don't think it does much.

Expansion Chamber, like on one in the G's stock Intake box.
If those use the chamber to build intake pressure, than I guess its best keeping it on. I would guess the M35 has the stock infinity upper intake arm ("g tube" or now "M tube"!) and not the Z tube

Yes most likely, and would benefit from a swap to a Z-tube, and several other mods available for the VQ.

This chamber on the VK is much smaller tho and didn't seem to affect much at all, altho it's probably more to do with noise attenuation than anything else.
Maybe with a more open filter area, removing this baffle/chamber would do more. I'm looking forward to opening up the filter intake this spring...should give more of a performance tune and might yield a couple ponies too.

I am pretty sure that Fujita offers an intake for the new M.

nah, I am not to worried about the M, was just curious if I could do it with home tools...just something to do on the weekend

I am more concerned with my G and fixing those problems. The M is perfect the way it is.

BTW, I just threw a Amsoil Microfiber filter... everything good so far. I was concerned that the KN could cause problems...MAF, letting to much crap in...etc.
