need Ideas for an audio system
Right now i have a weak JL audio w1 and its not cutting it. Pretty much i want a lot of power and to sound clear but i am not sure if i should stick with JL...OPTIONS?
im from richmond bc, and i got mine done at audiolines, i got 2 JL w3's(10") 4 focal speakers(6.5"), 2 audison amps (4channel(speakers) and 2channel(subs)), also to top it off an alpine wa200 double din screen.
it pounds and its very very crisp. JL w3 are only 150 each over here, 10" are very good for power and crisp
if you dont get JL's just make sure they are 10" subs, cause audiolines was telling me that our cars are perfect for 10's, 12's will actually lose its crisp cause of the size of the car

I would definitely stick with JL. Their products are crazy with quality sound. I got 1 pair of JL Audio ZR Components with a 300/2 amp, for bass I got 2 JL 10w6v2's in the trunk hooked up to a 1000/1 amp and it pounds out some very nice bass. I also have a pioneer z1 head unit w/ bluetooth, rear view camera, etc. Alot of money spent, but well worth it and very satisfied. I can't recommend any good installers because I am very picky when it comes to this stuff and the people that did mine, screwed me over, so I don't know who to recommend now a days.

I've got a combo of JL Audio and Boston Acoustics. 2 12W6V2's powered by a JL 1000/1 and Boston Acuostics Pro Components in the doors, deck and quarters powered by a JL 300/4. Bass is on point and the voices is crystal clear. I would say upgrade to a 10W6V2 and a 500/1 and youll be all set!
the fanboys of JL are strong on this site.
First you need a budget, i would stick with eclipse headunit, image dynamics/arc subs, dynaudio/focal/DLS components, genesis/zapco/arc audio amps. JL is over priced and better products could be had for less money not to mention you will blow their stuff away...

i got mine a year ago. costs 10 grand, i didnt want to make it showy because we get quite a few break ins now. so my din looks stock and kept stock bose covers for my focal speakers. for amps, audison are the way to go. best amps around, prices for those range from 600 - 13,000. but my JLw3's pounds, audiolines and a bunch of people love my sound, they say its the best they have herd on a g (from where i live of course)

I have the new Panasonic Flip-out, 1 Memphis Audio 10"(going to get 2 12"), custom enclosure(just the enclosure its self can make a crappy sub sound good), and a 1400 watt amp(not sure how much is running to the subs), and memphis door and rear speakers.
Just having the 10 blows people out of the back seat but i want some more
Im also taking out the spare wheel and putting the subs down there with a plexiglass overlay on top of it for more trunk room and it will look cool...

and ur using jlw3's...okayyyyyyy
keep in mind that this was a year ago, also when you wanna get your sound done right, you gotta pay good labour in vancouver. back then it was 10 grand, now you could get it for 6 grand. i also had my subs fiber glass molded to the sides of the trunk with leather finish. i had one of my amps hidden behind the spare tire, and the other amp showing behind the back seat. wires are hidden.
focal speakers that i got were 300 a piece, so 1200 in total. double din was a grand. subs were 300 for both(discount) amp 4 channel was 1000, and 2 channel(new one) was 1500. it costs more to put that in then it does the products

i got my DLS iridiums, in custom glass kicks, eclipse avn 5435, running a 2 way front active sound stage off 2 arc amps, and 2 arc 1000's for each ID max 12" sub in a custom box and it was 6 grand, that was a sound quality winning set up, also included was a 250 highoutput alternator, 20 farad cap, 2 optima batteries and all the wires. whoever u bought ur stuff from/installed it did a good job of reaming ur corn hole. and why would it be FOUR GRAND cheaper NOW when the economy absolutely blows? pics or u didnt have it, sorry man ur story just doesnt match up
its the installation and time, that really runs up the bill for me....they do charge a lot of money. i really dont know what to say, all i know is that out of all the people that go there, mine is the cheapest set up. sure you could say that i got ripped off, but i dont beleive i did. alpine was charging me 7 grand including install and there **** that they were gonna put in wasnt even half as good as what i got. they ran a setup in there show room to show me was it was gonna sound like. keep in mind im from van, stuff over here is always overpriced, also i had to get my tweeters place as far front as possible for better sound, so they repositiond them on top the dash
