So I was pulling my G out of my garage yesterday to spray it off since I got caught in the rain the other day for the first time. I live in an apartment complex so when I exit my garage I always pull halfway out then look to see if any cars are coming from either direction. There was a car coming, so I stayed stopped sticking halfway out of my garage. As the car came closer, I was surprised that he wasn't starting to turn wide to go around my car. Then, as he got closer, I could see the kid's face and realize that he was not looking at me or my car at all. I slammed on my horn but it was too late. The kid just kept driving forward and ran into the G, continuing forward and pushing my G up against the garage itself, crushing my door and shattering my window. I was just like, WTF. In retrospect, I guess I could have tried to gun it back into my garage, but honestly I have never been in a situation where a car is coming at me for more than 200 feet away and STILL doesn't see me until he hits me.

TLDR: 15 yr old newb dickin', hits my unmoving G that was right in front of his face, pushes G into garage causing way too much damage for an unbelievable situation.

Good news: Missed my rim so don't have to worry about replacing wheels or suspension components.

 

Oh but the other good part was that my tint held the window together completely which meant cleanup was a cinch! :/

Did the kid admit fault? IF he didn't it's a hard one to fight and you might be screwed. Just hope the kid is honest.

i hope the story doesn't change when he tells his insurance what happened because technically, he can claim the right of way. the situation as you explained it has him clearly at fault, but i wouldn't be surprised if he ended up claiming you pulled out without looking. i would have called the cops, or had him sign a statement. good luck with getting this resolved.

 

but in all seriousness, i agree with everyone else, make sure you get a statement saying that it was his fault, or if you have witnesses then that is even better! but then again it might not be that hard, because auto insurance agencies can determine how fast someone is going to cause that kind of damage. if you were moving back while when he is just about to hit you, there would have been more damage at a wider range, but according to the damages to his car and to yours, there is no surrounding scratches to prove that you were moving, also he was in a straight line when he hit you and stayed straight, doesn't matter how new he is at driving, if you pulled out b4 he hit you, at that kind of speed, then he would have panicked and would have attempted to swerve, this someone proves that he was not paying attention, also he is 15 without someone accompanying him, then makes him even more guilty for not paying attention to his surroundings.

but then again, this is all speculation
