Mountain Trip Photos
I must say after driving a completely built MR2 in the mountains for the past 4 years I was extremely impressed with the G's performance with the minimal mods I have. I was all over my buddy's M3 through the turns, but he was running some crappy goodyear tires so it wasn't a fair race. The C6 Vette was new to mountain driving so he spent the day trying to not spin out. The Ferrari's and such posted below just happened to be at the gas station, we did not ride along with them for obvious reasons...we'd get owned!
My only complaint is the VDC and ABS. I turned the VDC off which gave me much more play in the rear. I only had 2-3 times where the rear end actually broke traction out of the line I was running. Perhaps the front tires were causing the ABS to act up because they lack grip. I would have to completely finish my braking before entering a turn or the front ABS would start braking causing the front to slide out of the apex. The ABS is very sensitive to understeer, but o well. I'd prefer a way to turn it off completely. I'm used to the MR2: no abs, no power steering, no traction control, etc. Heated seats and a nice sound system was a very welcomed change! I'm ready for it to warm up so I can start my summer routine of taking the bike there every weekend.
My mods:
GT Spec front lower tie
GT Spec rear lower tie
GT Spec front strut tower brace
Hotchkis sways
Nismo R tune pads
Stop Tech slotted rotors
Goodridge SS brake lines
Z-tube & K&N drop in
Motordyne 5/16" spacer
Fast Intentions Exhaust
Megan V2 tpipes
Sun Automotive Japan grounding kit
Toyo T1R 255/40/18 in rear, stock bridgestone in front
Royal purple lubricants

North Georiga. Highway 129 (not the Tail of the Dragon section, but the GA version). We also hit up pretty much every highway between Dalohnega and Suches. Total mileage was only 180miles from Alpharetta, GA up to the mountains and back.
