Hey guys,

I just posted on the mods thread to see where I should go next after I bought it, but basically I replaced the DVD/NAV I had with a new Kenwood and have the KNA G510 Garmin unit underneath(need to figure out how to update it). Other than that the rest of the car is still how the pictures show. Obviously going to be looking to make some changes.

So just introducing myself, I'm 20 years old, go to college full-time and play poker professionally. Not on a wide open budget, but have some decent money to be able to make some additions to the car, hopefully I can make it nicer than what it already is!

Man I expected to get flamed, seeing as how I don't know much about cars and have a lot of stock stuff still on it

I am looking through the wheels section, but anyone got any suggestions for a wheel setup? I don't understand the whole "aggressive" set-up stuff, so I assume I'm not going to "stretch" the wheels, lol, but there are about a billion choices of where and what to buy from what I can see, so any suggestions on where to start or what would go good with a car like this? I don't really want to do 4k+ for wheels or anything, but 2k or below would be preferred I think. How about the front grille, does anyone ever replace that? I don't like the look of body kits on the cars because they are so pretty without getting those, so I doubt I will ever get one.

No worries no the flaming bro.. welcome to the site...

Wheels are not easy decision to make when there are so many different setups out there. Drop your ride first, and wait for the right deal to show up or shop around for something you like; I'm sure you'll end up happy.

Those rims are stock 17's? Did any G after '05 even come with 17" rims? I thought they looked like I30 rims. Either way, ditch them. Also, and this isn't a flame, your pinstripe is down right fugly. I understand you probably didn't have it put on but please love your car enough to have it removed.

Other than that, nice ride, welcome to the boards and I hope you enjoy your ride.

Hey,

I've got a newer one now, I sold that one for a 30 pack(lol), the touchscreen was going bad and I couldn't even use the Nav or anything because of that. I think my new one is like DDX 8019 or something, but I'm not sure. Basically just an updated version that is a lot like the previous one.

When looking for wheels/tires/rims packages(dunno what they are really called), are there certain things I should look for?

On tirerack.com, there are 3 numbers I can search for. I assume the last is " on rims or whatever, what should I be looking for in the other 2 numbers? The default is 225/45/17.

I am looking mostly for quality here. I don't want to get anything too big that would hurt handlnig or something. I am looking for the best looks possible without sacrificing handling or wet driving or snow driving or anything.

Yes, I know nothing about rims and have been googling it, but it appears this is the place to ask G35 specific questions!

If you look around the forums you find plenty of pics of people's setups...

Some people run two setups, a nice setup for the spring/summer/fall, and a winter setup. depending on your budget you might just go with a conservative set that can go all year long.

Its hard to point out tire sizes on wheels and tires since there are so many combinations of wheels available for the coupe, that you pretty much have to do a lot of looking to find what's right for you. You'll get a ton of opinions from us, but your budget, taste, and personal style will ultimately decide what wheels you get.
