Great job on the brakes, I've been a fan of Brembo BBKs ever since I saw Big Cs (Chris) set up on his coupe! Sadly, we lost him to NorCal....

I understand where you're coming from, but IIRC you mentioned the front Brembo calipers came from a set for an akebono equipped 370Z? Not knowing the exact specs of the Akebono piston sizes and such, I was just curious how the brake bias was going to turn out, especially against the smaller rear caliper of the 350Z/G35 which I would think has a smaller piston than the much larger akebono setup.

I guess it is something you wont really know for certain until you put it all together. Even still it looks really good and it is nothing a brake proption valve can't fix.

Gary, funny that you mention that. Chris' setup is what inspired me to get a 6 piston brembo front.

idrive, I don't know that the piston sizes are for the Akebono OEM setup, but the piston size area for this brembo 6 piston is actually smaller than our OEM brembo fronts, which would make sense, since it's intended for a larger rotor.

My rough calculation based on piston size area and rotor diameter has this within 0.002% of an aftermarket company's 14" BBK setup.

That all sounds good. It wasn't clear to me from the OP where the 6-piston brembos came from so I was just curious what math he went through to see if it would work.

You have a very valid question. Piston sizing is probably not something most people with BBKs have really looked into.

Some better pics of how they look on the car.

I'll also need to check if my 18" full size spare (350z track rim) will still fit over the calipers.

^ i tried to fit an 18" wheel and it wouldn't clear the caliper. an OEM coupe 19 is your best bet

Chris, what size is your front rotor? Mine is a tad smaller than 14" so I'll need to check fitment later. I was able to fit my 18" spare when I had my 4 piston setup, though it would rub if there was a wheel weight in the right location.

Juan, thanks, I'm looking forward to the meet.

Yeah the caliper seems to have a lot of extra mass on the ends of the caliper and of course that bridge piece at the top center.

Didn't see it mentioned.. what 2pc front rotor are you using? Is this the 6pot Brembo calipers for the 370Z/G37S that utilizes the stock rotors?

I've been thinking of swapping my front brakes (currently have the G37S/370Z Akebonos) for a Stoptech kit, but would also consider the 6pot Brembos if they'd work with the 2pc rotors I have up front already.

Looks great! How much were the brakes? I'd like to get a set in the gold color (on the r35) and throw them on a black coupe.

The spare barely fit. That'll save me some trouble since I just put a new Pilot Sport A/S on that rim. I don't think it would fit with full 14" rotor. I had more clearance with the old 4 piston brembo.

ntrinsik, I'm using 2 piece rotors from ECS Tuning. They're meant for Audi S4's. It's a 345x30 mm rotor. I needed a 30 mm thick rotor with my old setup, but with this new caliper being able to handle up to a 35mm rotor, I used those titanium backing plates to take up some extra space (one reason why the front plates are 1 mm vs the usual 0.5mm). I also decided to stick with these rotors since they're only 14.5 lbs per side (compared to the stock 1 piece 14" Akebonos at 28 lbs).

Yes, they're the caliper upgrade kit for G37/370z's. If you already have 2 piece 14" rotors, I would look to upgrading the calipers only. You can buy this caliper kit, but you'll need a bracket to fit it onto the G35. I guess in theory you could use the supplied brembo bracket bolted to the Akebono bracket. But to me that would be too many brackets. You can also see about getting the Brembo bracket from their G35 6 piston kit, but I've never seen brembo brackets for sale by themselves aside from used ones on ebay.

Nismo G, the calipers were $1750 picked up in Socal, rotors were $650 online, and the brackets cost me $330, not counting the time I put in designing them. The R35 brakes are one option, and you'll need a custom bracket for them as well. Or you can always have someone powdercoat/paint the calipers.

I did some work with emachineshop before, & the cost of one or 2 pieces was extremely high, the more pieces you ordered the cheaper the price each became... did you only order 2 brackets? I would think for just a little more you could have gotten like 20 of them awesome job man...
