Andy_Cliff's Nissan Skyline 350GT progress thread
Small update to keep the thread rolling over.
Not a whole lot to update at the moment sadly. Other than the mrs splashed out on me for a new sounds setup
I installed a double din touch screen android head unit which will be powering a set of 6 inches up front, unsure what i want to run in the rear & 1x 580w RMS Boshman sub powered by a Pioneer mono amp. Nothing special but more than enough for what i need.
I used the Metra dash kit to mount it. I have also kept the factory nav unit.
After dealing with the crappy stock cd stacker setup for the last year (limited to 1 station here in NZ), this is a breath of fresh air.
Photos to come of the whole setup when i have it all back together and cleaned. (Ignore the stereo surround. I hadn't fitted it all up properly prior to recording
)
A big thumbs up for this Chinese Android unit. Easy to install, nice interface & includes everything you would need. The 3G + Wifi is also a nice feature.

Hey.. good write up on the turbo kit..that price is not bad.. How much are they going to install it for and how long well it take to install. Also, do u have a auto or manual ?
i will be installing it myself when i do it. One of my buds is a certified welder so he will be helping when needed also.Sadly, i have an auto. The reason why the turbo has been put on hold so far, is because of that. I am considering getting a manual G/Z next year and putting the kit on that instead. The G is my daily driver so im not overly stressed on putting it on anytime soon.
Cheers, Andy
Oh ok.. I was wondering cuz I have a auto and would it work without any problems. I heard some folks say that I would need to get a transgo kit for the transmission. I should do a lot more reading before I go out and buy one. Also, trying to figure out if i could get it all installed for about 4.5 to 5 k

If i was to put the turbo on an auto, i would install the transgo kit. For good measure & the benefits that come with it.
Unfortunately, for 4.5k it doesn't look like you will get much over in the US. From what i can see the kits cost 4k + alone 2nd hand. Then the installation costs/fab if needed + tuning on top.
The kit i will be running is one of a kind, as i am able to use the VQ30det manifolds. These are limited to countries like ours that are right hand drive.
Heres a few pictures of the dash now
Please ignore the stereo surrounding trim. I will be making this fit shortly. Also, ignore the gas consumption stats. I had to rush to work this morning
ops: damn Christchurch (post earthquake) roadworks!
The resolution/quality of the screen is actually very good. Sadly the sun does not help in the photos & the photo quality is pretty low as i blew the images up too big...

I will be buying a steering wheel from a wrecked 250gt/300gt/350gt that has stereo controls & a reverse camera. As this head-unit has steering wheel functionality & wiring with it for both the wheel controls + reverse cam.
Cheers,
Andy

Cheers boss. The wiring and setup was a breeze. The only thing i needed to do was drill a few holes for unit to go in the OEM metal stereo frame + some filing for the nav controls to fit nice and snug.
No promises
Haha i know huh! I have put the most important apps on the first page of the dash. One tap for what i need now.

Heres one of the races from the weekend just gone.
Speedway/special stage racing. Ridiculously fast and fun. One of the guys in the 250cc behind me in this video was reading 103kmh (65mph) on the sweeper
Unsure of the top/average speed but it was stupid fast. Wheels were screeching, wheels coming off the ground off the line in one of the other races.
Check out how fast the cones are going past to get an idea of the pace.

No images to update the progress (not that there is a lot). But, i managed to snap up a hell of a deal!

That is what I thought!
I had no intention of getting the MREV 2 at all because of the price and the amount of an improvement it is in comparison to the REV UP motors... but, for the price I thought f it man, that is stupid cheap.
If I want a rev up in the future, ill just switch it over
