the $4800 6mt Craigslist Coupe... uhhh...build?

Just checking in.. haven't been on any forums lately. I still have the G and the 911.. although I definitely drive the 911 more...16k+ miles last year added to that odometer. Got a few more ideas on the G that will be coming to light by later this year. I'd love to find a 4.09 rear end for it and really get it moving. Anybody got any leads? I can't bring myself to get rid of it, I enjoy driving it too much..I just love ripping thru the gears with my custom built exhaust.
Who else is still on here and rockin the Gs?

I admit I have been out for a while, so my ratio #s may be off for the ring and pinion. My resistance to doing them before was the high rpm in top gear cruising, but since the G is not my daily anymore I don't mind it at all. More of a point and squirt car in traffic and pleasure drives, cars and coffees etc. The takeoff on the G is so sluggish compared to the z33 from the luxury connotation and gearing suited to comfortable quickness, rather than all out quickness.
I vaguely remember the r+p I want was in a Nissan frontier crew cab pickup and rather hard to find in the "wild".

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

Update: at 145k a few weeks ago I spun a rod bearing pulling Gs on a hwy offramp. Most likely #6 due to oil starvation. I need to pull the engine and assess it before moving further, but disc issues in my neck have rendered my left hand and arm nearly useless, so it may be awhile. I still plan to resurrect the G. In talks with a friend about doing the R&R.. this is foreign to me bc NOONE works on my cars but me..since forever.
If the crank isn't damaged I'll just do a full rebuild kit and bring her back to 0 miles with a little match porting and cleanup stuff while its apart...maybe shave the heads a tad for a compression bump.. then keep the fun going with the other plans I have for her. If the crank is damaged, I may go totally off the rails with an unusual engine swap or something.. I really don't know yet.
Thanks for the props on the details of the car that set it apart. The adapters are from USAdapters DBA Bronson Tire. They are high quality billet aluminum built to my specs, even using the 14mm Porsche studs. The G35 actually has the super lightweight Fuchs Porsche 944 lug nuts on it!
Currently running a vintage 2pc set of Gemballa Speedline Corse wheels on the 911.. German tuner wheels, made in Italy by Speedline.. just the kind of collaboration/confusion that is typical to my builds. The may end up on the G eventually too.

Wow, it has been a while. Just took a trip down memory lane, reading this whole thread. I finally succeeded in getting the G back on the road, literally the other day. The engine was smoked, major bearing damage on #6 I'm guessing from oil starvation. The G took a backseat and sat for nearly 2 years before everything got into line and I picked up a used engine and installed. In the process of working out the bugs from sitting 2 yrs to make her a DD again. Installed a new thermostat since I was having issues bleeeding the coolant, despite the old tstat testing as good in the temperature test. Then I found out the cooling fans weren't up to par. Grabbed a pair of fans from an Altima at the pick and pull yard and fitted them into the G35 shroud after cutting out the stock fans. $50 and works like a charm. The 911 needs to come down soon for a major engine out maintenance service, but is still going strong as well.
One thing I'm working on with this beastly heat wave is the AC. The AC clutch is not turning when the AC button is pressed in the car. I checked the 10A fuse behind the battery and changed it just to be safe. Where is the AC relay? What's next? Can I probe the AC compressor plug with a test light to confirm power to it?
Feels great to be running the G around again, but whew is it hot out there. AC is a priority

So I did some probing of the AC compressor plug and no voltage. Checked for loose connections everywhere since the whole front end was off for a long time. Wiggling the plug on the low pressure switch with the car running and the AC on, the clutch kicked on. So I removed it and blew it out and reinstalled it tightly. Now the compressor is running, but the AC isn't cold. Tried a recharge kit but no dice..pressure too high also. The lines were pretty tortured and bent over the last few years so I guess its back to the pick and pull for some new(er) ones.
