Well its only been 3 years since I wrapped the car, and the California sun has burned the vinyl to a crisp!

The vinyl is still stuck on there but looks like crap. Its faded in certain areas and lost that satin sheen. I’ve always wanted to try out a Rustoleum paint job and I think Im gonna try it in the next few months once the weather cools down a little bit. Im just gonna paint satin black right over the vinyl. We will see how long that lasts, but Im hoping at least a year lol.

Change of plans. Decided to remove the vinyl. Not a fun job! Now its definitely gonna need some patching and sanding before getting painted.

This is what scares me about the vinyl.

I would not vinyl wrap a car again unless it will be parked in the garage most of the time. The sun here is just too damn hot and burns and bakes the vinyl in about 2 or 3 years.

Wow, what a mess!
Did you get it professionally wrapped? No warranty?

If you're gonna spray paint, consider paint from https://www.automotivetouchup.com/ . You can get OEM colors for any car, Ferrari 458 Italia paint in a spray can!
I ordered a few cans from them and re-painted my front bumper, it came out surprisingly good.

I wrapped the car myself…so no warranty or anything.
Ive always wanted to do a rustoleum roll-on paint job. Ive seen a few projects that came out pretty nice actually. I’ll try it on one spot first and continue if it comes out nice. If it looks crappy then Ill just send it off to a paint shop to get sprayed.

I wouldnt want to spray it in my garage. That would be way too messy.

Well it took me a few days but all the vinyl is finally off. Almost all the scratches have been sanded down. Next step is to wash the car and fill in some of the gouges I made while scraping off the vinyl.

First coat is on! I can see all the imperfections way better now. Gonna fix all those in the next few days before I put on the 2nd coat.

Almost done painting. I messed up on the hood and the driver door, so I need to sand those down a bit one more time and apply another coat.

All done! Looks pretty good for a rustoleum paint job done with a roller!

Looks good, at least in pics 😂. Hope the paint holds up for you. Will be interesting to see how it holds up and how scratch resistant it is.
