I can't believe Nissan placed the backup camera in the middle of the trunk.

 

funny how things happen... my car is at Auto Explosion (body shop) to repair damaged bumper - all they were going to do is fix it and re-smoke new side-markers...

I had previously mentioned the molded trunk lip to them and indicated that when I find the right one, I'll bring it in. Today I went to drop the clear corners and Esteban says "by the way, you wanted to do trunk lip - I have this one"... what he showed me is about perfect for what I'm trying to accomplish! It needs to be re-sized a bit, but I think it will be the look I'm after...

So not only will my bumper be fixed, I'll have the molder trunk lip too
Also having the trunk shaved (filled holes) - but I might still use the emblem - at least now I'll have choices.

Sorry for the long post - just letting you know my quest for lip is over... hopefully it will look as I envision - I'll post pics when complete.

Keep posting up others though - this will be a good reference thread for those looking for trunk lip.

its gone way beyond that now brother I figured as long as it’s there, might as well do the paint project that was slated for the next few weeks - some engine bay stuff, I wont bore people with.

But yeah, you're right - everythig for a reason... I've been trying to figure out time and logistics to fit a few other car projects I have... this just made it all happen faster.

 

thanks, me too... I feel like I'm always copying you now - first the back-up light mod, now the molded trunk spoiler I will say, the trunk thing is something I've been thinking about for a long time... but the reverse light was all you (thanks for letting me use your idea)

 

the spoiler AE is using the mold into my trunk is CF... I'll see if they have a source to get them, I think some vendor dropped some off to them or something... The CF one is a little long on the sides, so if you wanted to apply without molding it probably wouldnt work well... but they had a plastic (maybe poly?) one that actually fit real nice! In fact, if I were applying without molding I would have used it.

If you are interested in what they have let me know, or PM me and I'll send you the number.... I don’t know if they will sell what they have, but they can probably let you know where to get 'em.

what i found more impressive than the lip spoilers is the creative ways you guys mounted your reverse cameras... clever!

 

it will be painted body color - so wont look CF... I don’t really like CF look though so it’s just as well... they are using it instead of the plastic one that fits better because its easier to mold into the trunk... I think both of the ones I saw are made by the same company, so I'm sure the shorter plastic one can be (or is) made in CF too...
