Good week for my sedan!
I finally got my coupe 18's on (had them all winter) early last week. Yeah I know holy 4 wheeler, but I drive on garbage roads.

This weekend completed my DD install. Overall, this was much easier then I expected. I am waiting on a bezel from metra to complete it. The buttons honestly don't bother me either. I mean they could be better, but ive seen some garbage dash kits compared to this (Metra RX-8 one for example). The best thing about this whole setup was the price.
Pioneer F700BT $370
Metra Kit 125
wiring 50
All prices include shipping too. So for under $550 and one afternoon.

Thanks for the compliments. I admit the JDM kit is no doubt better looking, but I didnt want to spend as much on my dash kit as my head unit (basically im cheap). Thats why im riding on coupe 18's, I got those for $180 for all 4. haha. Strict budget modding for me.
As far as video through SD the short answer is yes, but its kind of choppy. But I did just get the unit and I have not messed around with the video configurations yet and my SD card is old. From what I read on avic411.com it plays well with a class 6 SD card using the correct video settings (which I heard is very different due to the screen size). But Ipod hook up videos are perfect.

Honestly there is nothing in the same price range with the same capabilities. There a Kenwood that similar but its about $600-$800, but you'll be hard pressed to find another name brand unit in the same price range. Mine so far is lag free, but mine came updated from the factory. The 1.0 version I heard was very laggy. 2.0 seems to be working fine and 3.0 is rumored to be right around the corner.
As far as the JDM kit "definitely being worth it", I think is a matter of opinion. I honestly dont think the JDM price tag justifies the item, but I know im in the minority. I think the one button blacked out looks worse then the rubber buttons. I know you can mod that circuit board to have dual climate, but I feel it should come with it already for that price. Dont get me wrong if they were the same price id be all over the JDM one.
And while im talking about the climate control, I cant believe Metra sends out the AC controller with a useless jumper inside. I finished my install and had to take it out due to Metra deactivating the temperature control button for some unknown reason. So if you buy the metra kit be sure to take out the jumper from the AC controller before install.

Just wanted to say how pleased I was with Metra's customer service. As you can see I was missing the bezel. I called them asking if I could order one, and they just sent me two for free. Didn't even charge me for shipping. Gotta appreciate that.
