The Process Begins....
Well since you have so many years on me I have some quick questions maybe you can help me out with.
What products/order would you use to paint our composite front bumper brace thing and battery covers?
I was going to just sand them really well and put a coat of paint, but I really think I should use some sort of adhesion promoter.

Did you see the shaved covers I made?
A friend of mine that does paint&body professionally said bulldog adhesion promotor is pretty good stuff. He told me he's tried various other "professional grade" products, and there's really no difference.
Granted, that's 2nd hand information, so take it or leave it

Yea bulldog is good but its not OEM approved to my knowledge but its cheap and effective. I have tested my shaved covers with tape and compressed air and they did not flake.
I have seen plenty of primer fail on plastic in my day. Metallux makes a pretty baller all in one ready to spray plastic primer that does not require a promotor.

^I used some "bumper primer" on some interior plastic parts I painted on the Trans-Am yeeears ago. I can't remember who made it (Duplicolor, Rustoleum, etc)
All I remember is that it was just some rattle can labeled "bumper primer" and specifically listed plastic.
The stuff worked really well, I chipped one of the parts later (hit it pretty hard with something metal on accident) the paint chipped off the primer, but the primer didn't let go of the plastic.
But that was back before I knew about the duplicolor "idiot paint" (aka vinyl&fabric coating) I've thought for SURE that I chipped mine several times, but it turned out it wasn't
No matter what you use though, it's all about prep.
Lots of alcohol, and lots of sanding.
