Recent exterior mods for 2009

This year I've been playing around with a few things. Nothing earth shattering, but I thought I'd share.

First up, and it's a bit hard to see, I took some 3/8" wide black pinstriping and used it to black out 3/8" of the chrome trim that wraps around the windows (not the lower belt though, it's already narrow enough). I had the entire trim blacked out for a year, but I didn't like the way it made the car look at bit cheap. Maybe if I was going for all black I would have left it, but I still want a little class with my ride. I don't like how wide the OEM trim is so I thought this would be a simple fix.

I removed my clear corners and smoked my OEM ones with Testors smoked translucent paint and then hit them with some clear.

I've taken a set of OEM splash guards, reversed them, and put them in front of the rear tires. I love the look. They fit perfectly too

I added a Home Depot lip using garage door weather stripping. A lot of people do this mod and take the trim to the front edge of the bumper cover. I don't think it looks right on the sedan so I pulled it back and made it look more like an extended plastic airdam like you see Vettes, F-Bodies, CTS's, etc. I like the mod because it pulls the front end down safely ~1.5". Only someone that knows these cars could notice the difference. The first pic also does a better job of showing the narrowed chrome trim.

Very nice. It comes together exactly the way I'd want my car to, clean and barely noticeable.

Kudos to some nice mods and a nice car.

Beautiful 03. And BTW, thanks for the airbox mod. I have a couple of questions, but I'll post them up over there.

DaveB, can we see a better closeup pic of the rear wheel well? Hard to see the true effect the double splash guard has on a black car. And nice work as always.

As always, nice work with your car Dave. I like the switch to the smoked OEM corner lights, goes well with the black body paint. Overall a job well done

BTW, are your calipers painted? If so, what color and method (rattle can, powdercoat, etc.)?

The splash guard that u used for the rear part of the sill is a front splashguard or a rear bumber splash guard?

Front splash guard, just flip-flopped obviously. I don't think the rear splash guards will work positioned in front of the rear tire.

That's basically what I'm going for. Kind of a Chip Foose style which simply improves of the orginial styling while looking OEM. I don't want anything that's in your face or extreme.

I used gold high temp engine paint (rattle can). I cleaned the calipers with a wire brush, taped off the wheel well/body/rotors/pads and hit the calipers with 3 light coats. That was 2 years ago. They've held up well.

i dont like anything youve done.. you should be removing splash guards, not adding them.
the amber corners dont look bad, i just dont see why you didnt want your clears..
the chrome trim thing is so small it doesnt look different.
and that thing hanging on your nismo is sure an effective way to cheapen it.
your car is still nice.. im just not feeling any of this stuff!
