Go to the Police station or Highway patrol and go get a Police report. You better hope that cop logged something, you should of gotten something from the cop.

Here they made me prefill a form, then they printed it out for me.

Did you get the cops name?

Nasty business. Glad you're okay, but you're going to have a tough time topping that on your second date....

$350 seems very low for dealer pricing on a new Airbag...esp when they are on ebay used for $250-500 for the driver's airbag unit.

Keep in mind a body shop will only install new OEM airbags...so the dealer will prob charge top dollar for them to the shop. Of course, it's pointless to argue the cost of airbags unless someone actually calls up a dealership and gets pricing to replace all 8 airbags (plus the seats since they tore out). So we can guess at the actual replacement cost until then...which isn't the point of this thread

All I know is that the passenger side air bag and module, along with the dashboard is around $2200. Plus $250 for the seat belt if it remained stiff after the crash.

I would say maybe $8000 AT MOST for all air bags.

Insurance will try and screw you if they can, and yours is for sure, lying to you the way they are.
DON'T LET THEM!
Know all of your rights when it comes to insurance and don't trust them for anything!
First of all, you do not have to take their first offer. Second, you have the right to make them produce every single thing they use to value your car and repairs, and you can still argue the value of your car.
I had a 94 Trans-Am in show condition, and their first offer was $2300. Obviously I didn't take that. Turns out they were using a base v6 model for pricing and were not taking into account the condition of the car and things I had added. Had to argue with them for about a month, but it was worth it because I got well over twice their original offer.

Just know all your rights, and don't get screwed.

What insurance do you have? They seem like their trying to scam the **** out of you... theres no way that the airbags cost 16k.. and if your frame is bent, then the car is considered totaled. Theres no way any insurance company will pay to fix all your damage, get the police footage and receive a check.. a nice down payment for your new g37 sedan =)... I was in an accident that was estimated at 13K, and my airbag went off.

Good luck on getting your car totaled. You definitely don't want that car anymore. Frame damage = headaches down the road. Wow, I can't believe your rotor exploded like that.

Ace, our cars are not made of plastic. It is made to protect us. Crumpling is a good thing. Personally I'll take a broken car over a broken body. Would you rather your body take all of that damage? I sure wouldn't.

^^ whoa whoa... easy buddy... i understand they made it to protect us.. but if u had a look at my car you would notice things just vanished into thin air.. i was referring to the "crumplability" of our cars by saying its made out of plastic.. i wasn't hurt at all after that accident.. i was surprised how bad the car looked considering i didn't even get whiplash.. i guess it says something about the safety of our cars
