The look what I bought thread
LOL!!! All but the shaved head I've been doing for years... the head shaving was an over-reaction to my folically challenged condition
IIRC, Fender made Bigsby Tele's (with humbuckers) like the one in your tat in the '60s and/or '70s...and they're freakin' sweet. Here's an example:

Here's Fender's serial number look-up page: http://www.fender.com/support/usa_instruments.php. It might be able to help you pin down the year yours was made.
My current pride-and-joy is my Eric Johnson signature Stratocaster. I slapped some DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pickups in it last year ('Area 61' in the bridge and 'Area 58' in the neck and middle positions), and I absolutely love it.

As for the serial number - I've tried to trace it but the plate is worn pretty bad so the numbers aren't very legible... there's a guitar tech/repair wizard here locally by the name of Steve Soest - he did some work on the guitar years ago... I need to look him up again and see if he can identify make and year... and do some restoration on it - its in good condition but needs to be re-fretted and pick up re-wiring...
Gotta love strats! I've had a couple - never an Eric johson series but that guy is AMAZING!!! one of my all time favotrite guitarists!

It's good to see some love for EJ outside the state of Texas. I've lived in Austin most of my life and being up close and personal to musicians like Stevie Ray and EJ has been one of the highlights of living here. When I was a freshman at UT in 1980 we used to walk down the Drag from our dorm to a little club called the Hole in the Wall and see Stevie Ray (he was known as Little Stevie Vaughn at the time
) absolutely mangle his guitars for 4 hours. He probably played in front of 20 people total during that time.Watching EJ up close and personal is a treat. I'm a big guitar fan and he is one of the most technically proficient musicians I've seen. When he gets off on one of his riffs he'll hammer the top 3 strings with his pick and play the bottom three strings with his remaining 3 fingers. Unfvckingbelieveable live shows.
^^^ Stevie Ray is awesome! A childhood friend of mine ended up being a very successful musician - he partied with Stevie Ray a year to the day before he died (got killed). Quite the coke fiend from what I understand - one of the greatest guitar players ever.
The way you described Eric Johnson's playing style reminded me of the unique styling of Stanly Jordan - there's another phenom!

I can't tell you how many times I saw Stevie here. Probably over 200 I would guess. One of the best shows I saw here was on Lake Austin and opened with Ian Moore, then Eric Johnson, and finally Stevie back to back. For me the great tragedy in his death was that he got clean and sober and put out possibly his greatest album In Step then died in a tragic accident. I will never forget where I was when I heard he had died. I was at a mall of all places getting tires changed at Sears and chowing on some pizza when one of the local pop stations cut into their programming mid song to make the announcement. Still gives me chills when I think about that moment. I lost one of my few heroes that day.
RIP Stevie.......We definitely miss you!! And +1 on Stanley Jordan.

yep, I'll never forget either - I had just woke up and was listening to clock radio next to my bed, they announced it within minutes after me waking up... first thing I did was call my buddy, that's when I learned he had partied with Stevie a year to the day prior.
It was a sad day for sure. All the good ones die early (I'm still alive, I suck!

actually all ready started making a list but am a little iffy on the wheels and suspension....I planned on doing the roof overlay and the tail light overlay...just not sure what color rim I want to go with....I'm entertaining black, white and chrome...but just not sure if chrome would go well with the overlays..oh and I would like to blackout my headlights...or just find some that are all ready done...
Thanks I appreciate it!
