Ok... I ordered mine from oem.thing unpainted 1163mm, had it painted, and installed it perfectly flush against the back edge of the trunklid... Because of the taper of the trunk, it would have probably set closer to each edge if I hadn't followed the curve of the trunk so closely, but I felt it needed to mount that way.



This left almost exactly 6mm gap on each side (not really bad, but not perfectly flush)





So, just to err on the side of caution, I would round down to 5mm on each side, and say the "perfect length" should be: 1163 + 5 + 5 = 1173mm.

 

1175mm is what i'd order.

 

^If I had it to do again, and I was going unpainted (like I did) then yeah, I would get 1175 for sure. It could always be trimmed down if it's unpainted.

 

yeah, even if you want to paint it, doesnt hurt to test fit first.......DUR!

 

^I did a test fit when I got it. Knew it was a little short, but I just decided to roll with it because I was broke at the time.

Besides, mine fits as good as the "real thing" anyway (if not better)

 

That's good stuff right there. I would agree that 1171 seems to be the right choice if someone wants it to be perfectly flush.

 

i feel like the "right" length keeps changing. Started at 1160 then it went to 1165 now its at 1171-1175

 

it's probably because we are all bending it differently when we mount it. or the seller isn't really giving the requested length.

 

best bet is to order it lnoger and shave it down to size yourself

 

Or just order a hikka dori lid
