Nice cap!

Is there a DIY on polishing metal anywhere on the forums? I got some time right now and decided the engine bay would be a good project.

I ain't doing nothing that ain't been done. Just filling the legacy created by those greater than myself. I like it because you got creative with it.

Thanks again.....part of it is because I'm too cheap now to buy the stuff I really want

dtruong - I'm not sure if there is a formal DIY on polishing things on this site. It really depends on what you start with and how much effort you want to put into it. You can buy just about anything stainless steal and then shine it up. Some metals come smoother/shinier to begin with and are easier to get to polish up. Others (like aluminum) require sanding (again, depends, might need a few different grades of sandpaper) and then follow it up with some polishing compound. If you have a dremel, they sell a cloth wheels and felt tips that helps with the polishing end on smaller pieces.

Below are the caps, made of alluminum, I started with (ignore the orange one ). You can see the caps below where close to what I started with when I received them. The oil cap on top is the result of some polishing I did. I still have another round of polishing I'll be doing to all of them.

I'm no expert like Sean (SxExCx) but I don't mind tackling smaller pieces if it doesn't look like it will require too much time...which I seem short of these days

A quick pic of the the bay after I got the parts back from plating as well as the new ARC caps. I'll take some better shots this weekend. Hopefully steel braided hoses, chromed coolant pipes, painted valve covers, and some kind of strut bar.to come. I need a wire tuck bad. Enjoy

Finally finished up the vinyl on the center console...oem aluminum was all kinds of beat up. I still need to decide if I'm going to cut out the sqaures for the gears and the "+/-"

Valve covers and wiper cowel. The last few parts to be installed before Import Faceoff comes to town next Sunday. I was gonna paint the valve covers a factory Toyota color but ended up going with a ford color instead. This color is also going to be used later in a project I have planned.
