Yes, chrome is a very picky finish to match to a color.

So, this is part 1 of 300, right?

Yuck man. Those wheels are nasty....and being a nice fellow G35 driver friend I will gladly take those off your hands since they look so hideous.

Just tell me where to send the check.

HA HA! Car looks amazing!

Thanks guys for the humor. I started the thread as a joke because it seems that everybody including Jesus was starting one. Wayne, I think I'm so old that I forgot what century the build began.

I've lost a lot of my initial pictures due to computer meltdown but I'll take what I have and piece together a progression of the ride since there seems to be actual interest here (who would have thought?)

I bought the car on 03/14/2009 with 47,000 miles in pristine condition. Was a one owner car from Plano Texas. It had every option available except for nav. Traded in an 01 Max with 120,000 miles on it that was falling apart, but it looked good on the outside. Dealer price for the G was $15,500 and they gave me $5000 trade in on the Max (still don't know how I pulled that off) so my cost for the G was $10,500. I knew that day it was the start of something special, but didn't have a clue what laid in store for me. They had 3 G sedans on the lot but as I pulled up to the little dealership, the minute I saw this car I knew it was mine, just had to hammer out the right pricing details. I drove the other 2 Gs and there was never any doubt in my mind.

On to the progression..........

Somewhere around May of 09 I had spent a couple of months on Driver reading through every thread I had time to so the mods started. First was a rear lip:

Then came the pop charger, 5/16" MD spacer, JDM bump clear corners, and the Invisicord/Mike's Mount. Hated the pop sold it after 3 months but the IC/MM remains one of my favorite mods to this day.

Somewhere in here I found the Zaino line of car care products and Poorboy's World Natty's Blue paste wax and began to really pay attention to the care of the paint.

Then in June of 09 the madness began. Not listening to all who warned me to go with coilovers instead of springs I dropped her on sedan H Techs. I thought I was the **** and that would be it for modding (silly me)
Before

After

Then a little while later I saw Marcus (Candlestick Park) had purchased a Kurookie bumper, so I bought his OEM lip. (M. you still da man!)

Lured by the call of a sexy exhaust I added the HR y pipe, a coupe Mid pipe, and an HKS muffler. Sold the muffler for more than I paid for it after 8 months, the drone was not my thing so I went back to the stock 05 muffler. Love the sound of the Frankenstein'd stock system it created, but definitely miss the bling of the HKS.

Rocked the rev up air box and drop in filter for a bit, but decided to try the R2c intake and that's what I still run. Love it!!

That took me into early 2010 and the **** was about to hit the fan. Went with coupe 19s, sedan S techs/350Z struts and shocks, a swap to a 3.5 VLSD diff. and it was on!!!

Had to have the sport pedals of course.

And then started on the engine bay. Got jiggy with a GT Spec strut bar, NRG catch can with braided hoses, NISMO oil cap/radiator cap, Zee Toyz polished fluid caps, SxExCx stealth grounding kit, polished timing covers and throttle body, painted tanks, RH battery cover, UTR polished intake tube, Rare JDM harness cover, UTR titanium burnt air diffuser (not shown in the pic), and maybe most importantly a chromed plenum. Have seen a lot of polished plenums, but the chrome really pops, little did I know that one day I would be rocking chrome wheels.

Added Ichiba rear camber arms (don't ever buy this brand, they SUCK), rear toe bolts, and SPL V2 front camber arms. Won't show a pic of the Ichibas, they don't deserve one.

So now we're into July 2010 and the major transformation is about to take place. She looks good, but she's not there yet. Found a set of 5Zigen Gravis 1s in chrome (oh my I didn't want chrome) just down the road in San Antonio on Craigslist for $800 which included tires that I sold for $300 so the rims ended up costing me $500 (major score). They had been discontinued for a couple of years at that point so buying used was my only option and I was set on the Gravis 1s, nothing else moved me like they did. Funny how much of a gap I had here even running the S techs. Tires were 235/35 up front and 275/30 in the rear. Took me about a month to decide if I really liked the chrome, but one day I looked at the car and was hooked. It was kinda like that moment when you have been dating someone really cool for a while but you're not sure she's the one, and then one day out of the blue when you look into her eyes you just know...........

Then in September came the aluminum undertray and these beauties (Tanabe Pro 5) and I pretty much was done.

Also added 15 mm spacers up front to run 19X8.5 +23 and 5mm out back to get me to 19X9.5 +33 running 225/40 Hankooks up front and 245/40 out back that left me looking like these pics which is where I am today, just got Osiris last week and am really happy with the way the car drives. Really woke up the 3.5 diff.

I'm currently running 6000K low beams and yellow fogs up front and I'm sure I missed some little things along the way. I want to give huge props to Driver in general, but to Marcus for really being my inspiration on how to build a sexy, yet clean modded G sedan. I fell in love with his car as I watched his transformation from afar, it also helped we were both LS. Future plans are pretty simple: BBK or Brembos and possibly a new stock X bumper (love the hole ) with a lip repair and respray of the hood and lip. I'm also pondering a new rear spoiler, I want something a little more pronounced but not as large as the OEM lip. I keep looking at the M35s lip thinking it might fit but haven't had a chance to check it out.

So thanks everyone if you made it this far, I hope you enjoyed the ride. I know I do every day, I still find myself turning around when I walk away just to steal a glance at Amanda. It's definitely true love!!

I'm really looking forward to Cali. I'd be honored to get some pics with your ride.

And I think it's just fitting I have a couple of your old pieces, seems now that they just belonged there.
