What do you guys think? I was originally planning to get some 18 inch black Volks to replace the stock wheels (summer tires) and keep the stocks for winter use. But now I'm thinking I'll keep my money for other mods and just paint the wheels black and worry about the winter tires later on when I'm stuck in the snow (hehe!).

My hubby (umm, yeah, I'm a GIRL G-owner) has suggested getting a powder-coating gun and doing the wheels ourselves...

I don't think the chrome trim around the windows goes with the solid black wheels, so I was thinking of doing a black chrome finish on all the stock chrome... all the emblems and chrome trim. Would that look sick or what?

I think they look pretty good...if you powder coat all the stock trim and emblems it will set them off even more...its definetly not for everyone but i still think it looks pretty good...very unique!

I was never fond of black rims. Sorry, it reminds me police cruisers.

Gunmetal would look better IMO.

Black chrome or powder coating on complex spoke designs takes away from the look of the wheels.

I had my stock wheels done in a custom hyperblack. I know it's not a great picture to see the car (it was for the dog) - but you can see what the hyperblack wheel looks like.

That hyperblack would work for me. Where did you get that done? How much...etc? What process is that? Painting? Chroming/plating?

Oh yeah, the dog is the ****. It's all about the dog, man. Put the dog in the driver's seat and take some pictures.

I wasn't liking the idea of an almost black wheel for my black car, but I think it could work on the red. Though, some definition would help. The wheels posted above would look awesome. I don't know how hard it would be to apply the paint/powder to the red S but the "Black Pearl" emblems are popular with the yota crowd, I'll see if I can find a writeup. I could swear I remember seeing one with some simple model spray paint. Personally wouldn't put all the emblems back on, probably just the Logo in the center of the trunk. How hard is it to remove the chrome piece on the trunk lid?

Edit:
Found the link to the cheap/easy way to paint your emblems... Click Here It appears to give a "hyperblack" look, possibly a hair towards gunmetal...
