You can get one of those 600-piece things at Home Depot and they probably come with one too.

Are you sure they aren't just the regular torx screwdrivers, are they the tamper proof ones? I have bought a couple of sets there and never did see the tamper proof ones. TIA

sorry for the crappy pics, it was with my cell phone camera.... but yea, the t27 torx screws require these.... The one on the bottom is the safety one with the hole in it... craftsman offers it in a set, though i have seen the actual screw driver available online, but i would rather have a set of different tips than a whole lot of screw drivers that i would end up misplacing...

i didn't do the paddles yet, since they haven't arrived yet... But yea, the screws had lock tight on them and it was a pain to unscrew. I just put them back in w/o lock tight, b/c i'm planning to change out the screws and put lock tight on it when the paddles come in....

I guess we got lucky when we got ours... turbocad ordered 2 sets when he was planning to do mine and they both arrived in like 2-3 days.

Thumbs up

Today is a great day. Came home to a package with my new paddles kit (Thanks for the quick turnaround Jason). Everything went smooth and the instructions in this thread were great (thanks Turbocad6). They are installed and tested. The best feature is the ability to go up and down gears in drive. The shifts are instantaneous and the placement is perfect. Now all we need is a supercharger.

Here are some additional tips:
  • The torx bit is actually a T30 (TR) Tamper resistant as in the pictures above. This is directly out of the manual and the one I used out of the set I got from sears. I'm sure the T27 works but the correct one is the T30.
  • The steering wheel nut torque spec is 25ft/lbs also from the manual.
  • When installing the plastic shaft cover you want to put the bottom piece on first.
  • No need to remove the top shaft cover, it fits perfect with the new bottom and sides and you don't have to deal with removing the fake leather dust cover material.
  • I found when reinstalling the torx screws after the install, the easiest way to do so is crank the wheel to one side where the hole for the screw is perpendicular to the floor board, other words pointing straight down. Then go in from the bottom. This prevents a slip up and dropping the screw inside the steering wheel.

Hope this helps and everyone have a happy holidays.

For those who have ordered the kits from me... My initial order had kits coming from NISSAN / INFINITI warehouses all over the place... My 2nd order, no more were available... They are on national backorder...

I have placed a CUSTOMER CARE order which puts the order in highest priority (and also costs us MORE for the product).

I have some on standard order with a release date of 1-10-2008. The CSC ordered kits should show up weeks before then.

So far for anyone who has paid or has called in with their info, they have a kit on this express order which will get to us before released to any other dealer.
