New Mods to Install - With Pics
#61
Ok guys, I finally got the GT-Spec Front Tie Braces installed last week before I left for my trip to Monterey. And, after over 1000 miles of driving over the last week (which almost doubled te mileage on my car), I can tell you that these braces made a big difference in the stiffness of the front end. I can particularly tell when going over a speed bump or a curb, and when hitting a pretty harsh bump at speed. The front end just feels much more solid. Definitely a mod I would recommend along with the GT Spec Front Strut Bar.
Now I just need my Hotchkis sway bars and a set of coil overs, and my suspension / chassis will be set!

Nope... You don't even know they're on there most of the time. They actually don't do anything to stiffen the suspension... They are there to tie the chassis subframe to the point where the control arms mount to help eliminate chassis flex. They basically just make the chassis more solid, which can only be a good thing.

Hehe... Yeah, Rick is sometimes hard to get a hold of. They get pretty busy over there. You can always e-mail him directly or call them if you need to get a hold of him right away,
No problem... Next time you buy from them, make sure to contact Rick directly (I usually just PM him on here or e-mail him directly) and let him know you are from G35Driver. He gives Driver members a pretty decent discount.

Oops. Almost forgot... The Front Tie Braces come as a pair, so you get two, one for the driver's side and one for the passenger's side. I also have the GT-Spec Rear Lower Tie Brace and Front Strut Tower Bar on the car already and have the new Front Inner (2 point) Tie Brace on order from Riverside. I will probably also get the 4-point chassis brace when it comes out. Like I said before, the chassis can never be too stiff.

It stiffens the front of the car so the body won't flex. It'll stiffen suspension a bit but nothing you can really feel, barely.
You want a good suspension mod, gets sway bars.

for sways, we are trying to get enough people to get a run of Hotchkis bars made. The prototype has been done--we just need 25 people willing to ante up cash.

the goal of these type of products is to stiffen chassis & minimize chassis flex.
By doing this, you are helping the suspension to maintain it's geometry as load is applied.
This allows it to function much more effectively, and as designed.
The car will feel tighter, and control inputs will be more linear & precise.
In of itself, suspension stiffness does not change with chassis stiffeners, only springs shocks & sways will do that.
(.....and weights if you want to take it further )
