Because the work you will do yourself will nowhere be near a profesionally powdercoated rims will be. Trust me. Not just from an aesthetic point of view, but from quality. This is more crucial especially when it comes to rims.
Ive repainted my grille twice now... and its chipping again. Your gonna have to keep redoing it again and again...and still, a brand new painted grill or rim will not look as good as something done professionally.
Just my personal experience. Just thought I'd share.
