As I don't care if my license plate is seen I decided to put the red leds into it:

Yeah, I think at least I would make them less bright and try to keep them for a while. It's never late to remove or change them

I think that looks terrible! It's ugly + not very functional/practical.
I don't think the cops will like that very much either.

I say go w/ white or keep it stock!

cops don't care here about such things if it is about luxury cars so i don't care either.

i'll dim these red leds to 50%, because they are brighter now than my rear stops

friends say it looks like a monster in the dark with an angry face now

i'll make them less bright, 50-70%
