^ Tons of these stories about Mitsubishi voiding warranties on cars for stupid reasons based on assumptions. This is one risk I had to take though when buying my evo. I'll never go to a dealership anyway. Any work on my car is done at local tuning shops.

I would probably put the blame on aftermarket headlights. The OEM system is pretty sound. goodluck OP.
+1

Could have been the after market HIDs in the fogs. If the wiring was faulty or if it grounded out, it could be the cause. Better hope not.

I'd take that HID kit out if possible.

Sucks!! but I don't know why everyone says call the dealership when it's an insurance issue. Your liability coverage will cover it. Hopefully you only have $100 or less deductible.

If the appraiser/investigator finds it's a manufacturer problem then your ins is off the hook and warranty will fix it all.

I personally would tell the dealer that they need to look at it first and make sure all the wiring is sound. Tell them you would rather pay them for labor (less then 200.00 I would imagine) then have a claim on your insurance for years to come which will raise your rates.

Your dealer is being lazy, thats all. Call corporate and let them know what the dealer said and see what they suggest. Let them know your willing to pay for the labor and you want that done first. If its a problem with the car and the adjuster from your insurance company finds it so, your still going to have a claim and your insurance will still go up. The dealer needs to look into this first.
