***Car Caught on FIREEEEE!!!!***
decided to keep the car and will get a new one next year (probably an suv) because the fire was caused by my Halos that i bought from igor because the wiring was some cheap wiring or something according to the autobody shop. so there is no chance of that happening again. so i will keep it one more year. sell it after the warranty is up and get a range rover sport suv (2012) model.
He has been a ghost on all the forums for a while, i heard couple of explanations, some said that he was banned and some said he canceled his sponsorship for a while over on myg37.com not sure whats the real deal but he seemed like a stand up guy in regards to his warranty, so if you can somehow get in contact with him he might offer a refund as i reckon you would not want mod your lights again

WOW, before this gets out of hand...
CKP BOUGHT the rings from me nearly 2 years ago. The rings we offer are automotive style rings, and the wiring on them is not any different from ANY angel/halo ring you'll find on other aftermarket brands.
I had installed nearly a dozen of these rings on 2nd gen sedans with no issues. I've been dealing with CCFL parts since 2003 so I know exactly how fragile they are and the proper way to install them. CKP insisted that he'll have his shop do the install and I said ok, I will not offer any warranty or guarantee for the rings since I'm not doing the install and since I'm not the one manufacturing them, I can't give warranty if they stop working... again he insisted that he wanted them and I sold it to him.
The cause of the fire was clearly the improper install. When installing any addition lighting such as CCFL or LED's, we solder every piece of wire and heatshrink the exposed contact. All the additional wiring is also guided through the OEM factory harness, and the inverter/ballst (which was probably the cause of the fire) is properly secured to the back of the headlamp so it doesn't dangle around and get damaged.
I don't know who or how his CCFL halo rings were installed, a simple human error could have caused this issue by not soldering the wiring and simply taping them together with electrical tape. The ballasts/inverters may have not be properly secured, leaving them hanging.
Like mentioned earlier, I have nearly a dozen of these rings installed on 2nd gen sedans in the Tri-State (NY, NJ, CT) area, that face severe weather conditions, especially the recent snow storms, and hot summer days... and I haven't had a single issue with the rings going out, or causing a fire !
CKP, I'm sorry for your loss, but please believe the cause of this issue wasn't due the product, but to the actual installation. If the product was the issue, then company's wouldn't be selling millions of these rings all over the internet/world. CCFL rings and light bars have been around for decades, using the same method of wiring.
Another thing I want to mention is... I constantly find customers coming to me AFTER they had experiences with other automotive accessory shops that think they know what they're doing, but in reality they don't... I constantly have to fix other shops mistakes due to faulty wiring (so many accessories shops in NYC are installing LED strips outside the headlights and tap them into parking lights just by twisting the wire and taping it together). They also use electrical tape to secure the wires... but little do they know, a few months down the line, that electrical tape loses its adhesion and simply starts to unwrap, leaving you with loose and exposed wires.
Here's an example of something I had to fix a few days ago on brand new 2011 G37
This is the result of the wire that a shop had tapped in for a bullshyt LED strip they glued on to the outside of the headlight

Here's a shot of the turn signal bulb that didn't fit the socket, so what did they do? They chopped up the plastic, stuffed the bulb in there, and then glued it in place.

This just goes to show that you think you know, but you have no idea what kind of knowledge most shops have. I witness all sorts of dangerous *** ups on weekly basis, I open the customers eyes to a point where they end up going back to the previous shop and file law suits.
I've been messing with electrical wiring for nearly half my life, I've made tons of mistakes in the past, and having a step father who's an electrical engineer, I know what to do and what not to do when it comes to wire management. I'm extremely **** about wire management and have an OCD for it, my friends think I'm insane, but I love seeing a clean wiring job done right, for safety and OEM finish purposes... and not something that's gunna make my life easier when it comes to having to fix something.
Reason we were banned from MYG37 is for non payment issues with Internet Brands, we simply stopped paying because I had no service to offer and lots of personal issues I had to deal with. You can read that here: http://myg37.com/forums/the-lounge-o...to-my-g37.html
I'm not a paying vendor on this forum, I don't advertise my services on this forum either, yet I visit this forum on hourly basis for new information, and to help when help is needed.
I hope someone sees where I'm coming from.
Thanks,
Igor

I'll vouch for Igor and I'm sure many many others will too.
When it comes to headlights and wiring, every install is he completes is tested and super clean. If any of you think he's out to get you or was the cause for this... you're simply mislead.

Good luck OP...i had ton of issues with quality after my last car returned from the body shop...luckily it was interior issues and not mechanical but it went back 4 times before they got it right...
