Champ Car at Road America - Aug 12
Generac Grand Prix (Elkhart Lake) - Official Site
Anybody going? I'm sure I'll be there again this year. This is a good event even if you're not into Champ Car. Road America lets you go pretty much anywhere with your ticket so you can get lots of different viewing locations and it's within a few hours drive. Plus, Champ Car lets you get really close to the cars, pits, and drivers. And there's quite a few nice cars of fans that come up from Chicago and Milwaukee, last year I saw a Carrera GT, Bentley, and quite a few Ferraris, plus a ton of pimped out BMWs and tuner cars. It's a pretty cool event that's fairly close for much of the midwest group and not too expensive.
The ALMS would be cool to see too, but I'm not sure if I want to make a weekend out of it or just head up Sunday.
Anybody went before or thinking about going this year?
Photo I took last year, you can see how close you can get to pit row (I only have a basic 3x zoom digital):

A bit warm, but good weather for the Champ Car race. Here's a few pics for the interested.
2nd flyover:

The new tunnel:

Audi R8 on display:

Kinda upset we missed Saturday's action:

Bourdais & Rahal going up the hill from turn 5:

Dornboss ended up getting 14th after some mishaps. He was pretty crabby and wasn't feeling too chatty. Shortly after this photo he want back into the truck to mope:

ChampCar burnouts are cool, even when it's Bordais that does them:
