Road trip
Re: Road trip
I think I can probably make it. Maybe we can get G35girl and a couple of the other Indy people to caravan up as well.

Re: Road trip
Hi all!
I love this idea, but it's a little long of a day for me. I was just in Morris, IL for a Boy Scout campout. It took me about 1h 20min to get there from where I live. It's a nice ride but I80 was under construction further west of there just before I got off at route 47 so the drive there may actually be longer than 2 hours! Sorry I know this! The construction is planned for the whole summer. I don't want to take anything away from anybody plan wise her but I'm going to throw out my $0.02 and see what happens.
Since G35Girl will be in Northbrook that weekend, what's the chance we get together that Sunday a little closer to Northbrook and do something a little more locally? I know some fun roads in that area like the one from Ferris Beuhler's Day Off, great places to eat, and some neat sites to see and fun activities we could partake in. I actaully grew up in Northbrook and yes, I'm a Glenbrook North graduate (the high school that made the news with the hazing incident). If you're up for it, i would be willing to plan out something cool for the day and we could do our own "Ferris Beuhler's Day Off" outing!!! If there's any interest with this, let me know! What about Starved Rock in the fall when the leaves turn???

Re: Road trip
what??? construction in chicago? that's unheard of.
haha anyway, just let me know what you are planning. my sister's wedding "festivities" are supposed to start as early as thursday, but i've lived in chicago before so i probably won't be going on the out-of-state guest sightseeing tour.

Hi all!
I love this idea, but...

I hear what you're screaming Chiphead but a little traffic or construction is the last thing that would defer me from wanting to go ... that just gives me more time to spend in my baby!
A 2 hour drive is nothing, and I think it would awesome to have a line of G's cruising down I-80. It doesn't have to be an all day thing, if we could at least organize it so that we all drove out there at the same time and hung out that would be cool. People could go off hiking or whatnot after that.

This is now less than a month away! What's everybody's story? Is there still anyone interested? I'm still very interested in going on Sunday 6/6.
Speak up, yay or nay!

Re: Road trip
June 6 is good for me too. Lets confirm so we can put it on the calendar. We are talking about Starved Rock right? Go up there early, grab a bite to eat or hang out picnic style, and then drive home.
Re: Road trip
Maz,
Didn't say it was bad, just that I might not be game for such a long excursion. I have to be close to home to tend to my Greyhounds. My wife takes Sunday to get her stuff done and she's not around a lot so I have to keep the house working on Sunday's. You guys who are interested should absolutely go! If I could afford the time, I would. I was just throwing out other suggestions of things we can do as a group, not trying to take anyone away from Starved Rock. My suggestions weren't meant that they had to happen the same day.
Sorry If I wacked this but that was not my intention at all!

Re: Road trip
aftrbnr,
I put up some cruise night stuff already in this forum. There's one tonight in Mundelein for 1977 or older cars, but with the weather sucking, i didn't go. I like the Car Boutique cruise nights as they're mostly for imports. I haven't seen their schedule up yet. I think they start in June. Also, the McDonalds in Gurnee by Gurnee Mills has a cruise night every Saturday with all kinds of cars, imports and classics. I went once last year and it was cool. Also, Great Lakes and Joliet have Import days at the tracks. When I fin stuff I'll add things to my post as so to keep the NE IL G people informed!!
