Chip said that Starved Rock was bad so I have stopped planning. If we want to go in the construction I am game.

Well I am still game to go in the construction! How many people do we still have interested? From this thread I've seen the following people that have shown interest:

LMaz (planner)
BeerViper (definitely in)
myG35ZX (once a day is selected...)
rydw79 (in from Indy)
ekaz (should be free)
g35girl (in town for a wedding)
Aftrbnr (ready to roll)

I will continue planning if LMaz is no longer interested. I think this would be a pretty cool meet, different than your average meet in a parking lot and hang out type of meet.

Maybe I will go out to some other forums and see if the 350Z or Maxima people are interested in addition to the other G sites (6mt.net, freshalloy).

Re: Road trip

Chiphead,

I really like the import track days. Maybe hit a cruise night or 2. Thanks

Re: Road trip

So what we need is a time to meet and a place to meet for the drive. Any one have any suggestions??? Any restrictions on your time?

Re: Road trip

I was thinking that the Speedway on Harlem Ave at I-80 would be a good place to meet before the drive. It's on the way to Starved Rock for most people unless you are coming from Joliet (then it's backtracking). Or somewhere in Joliet close to where I-80 and I-55 cross would be my second recommendation since anyone should be able to get there easily from several different highways.

Re: Road trip

Now that Vegas is behind me I will start to focus in this. Who is in for a drive on June 6?? Let me know if you are before I start planning. I like beerviper's idea of a meeting place. So let me know if you are in.

Re: Road trip

I'm interested in going. I was hesitant in committing since I might have still been looking for a place to move to, but that's not an issue anymore.
The place on Harlem is cool to meet at. I used to live around that area, so it's easy to get to.

Has anyone thought about taking the non-interstate roads in case construction is bad, or if some different scenery is wanted? I drove to Ohio back in April on the backroads, and it was definitely worth it to get a little different feel than the interstates would have given.

In case of construction I will just turn to the trusty Navi

Re: Road trip

D Day is only 4 days away (literally).
What's the plan?
Who's still in?
Are we meeting in Tinley at the Speedway?
What time? 10:00am?

Weather looks to be agreeable (for now). 75 and partly cloudy is the forecast.

Re: Road trip

I'm still in. 10am @ Speedway works for me if those end up being the plans. I hope that we can get that more or less firmly set by the e.o.d. on friday (cause I don't have a computer to check things on the weekend)

Re: Road trip

Should work for me. Keep me posted. I need an address or basic directions to the place we are meeting since I would be driving up from Indy.

Re: Road trip

In. Just need a recap of where, when and how. I'm in Atlanta and get back Friday. Of course I still have the turtle stew smell, I'll try to clean off the turtle before we meet. I need a lift to get under the G and pick off the parts. MMMMM. Turtle Stew.... Yuck!

Re: Road trip

I will post up more details later. For right now it still looks like we are meeting at the Speedway gas station right off I-80 at Harlem Ave. (first exit west of I-80/I-57 on I-80).

From there it's I-80 West for a couple hours!

Re: Road trip

Is that Speedway station accessed from 183rd street (West of Harlem) by chance (from the Northbound Harlem exit from I80)? I haven't been by that way in a while, and I'm trying to picture it on the satellite pictures from the terraserver website and on the mapquest map that speedway provides. All I can tell for sure is that it doesn't say Speedway on the roof of the structure that I think may be it. (anyone get the Simpsons reference to the Trillion dollar bill episode??)

Re: Road trip

Yes that is it. The Speedway is on the SouthWest corner of 183rd and Harlem Ave. Where are you coming from?
