Twin Cities area photo areas

As I am starting to self-learn photography, looking for some input where people have as suggestions around the city for some good spots to shoot. Both just scenery and things to look at, and places people have done pics with their cars, any examples will be good. I think part of it right now is that its so blah out with brown/gray everywhere that there is not much color so everything looks dull. I have a few places in mind I am going to try and shoot maybe this weekend and see how they turn out, will update in this thread as i do.

yeah calhoun is good...i just live so close to it that i don't look at it as a photo area. plus there's always too many people there to get shots.

if you get them at the right time there's great angles of the skyline dt too. also, a sick spot is right under 394 where 94 runs into it. Nick and me took some sick pictures under there.

If you're gonna do photos at Calhoun, it's definitely a better spot to get night shots.

There's also Downtown Stillwater -- Not a bad area either.

haha, you can pretty much count on it. This past weekend we got his car all back together, rims back on, etc. Told him about the meet and he's like "is your girlfriend going? does she like cars? so do you think she'll go?"...etc etc...was funny cuz i knew he was hinting that he wanted to come. You can pretty much count him in as my passanger 4sho!!!

I would suggest doing a search on Flickr to see where other photogs shoot at in your area. I've found a few good spots that way.

Did you meet both nick AND nate?? They're twins. Nate has a 300, Nick still has his red 99 Cavalier. Nate used to have his black cav with 20's on it.

I remember asking Nick about you though and he said he messaged you on the org a while back so I know he knows who you are, cuz he said he remembered you from a meet in Iowa.

Nate has his black 05 300 with 22's. Nick doesn't even have insurance on his cavalier..he's been trying to save up for a car and sell his cav. His dream car is a black M3, but probably isn't oging ot happen since he can't afford the insurance on it. Then he was looking at a Lexus 350 but still too much...so NOW i'm not entirely sure ...i htink he's been talking about just a nice economical car like a solara or soething?

I forgot which one of them had the 300, I had just seen pics at one point and didnt pay much attention. We used to hang out on Thursdays in CR, altho I was a bit older than them so I wasn't hanging out with them all the time.

I am getting excited for the meet, and even more excited as my parts start arriving! Just found out today something I ordered is back-ordered. I really wanted to have it for the meet, but will see if it show up on time, may just have a late night or 2 before getting all ready.

Hah yeah got a bit sidetracked, but StreetDreamZ and I both used to own Cavaliers, as did his current roommate, Nick who had a twin brother Nate. I knew both of them so it is just odd that we knew some of the same people and had moved from a cavy to a g. So i was curious if he was bringing his roommate to the meet since he is a "car guy"

I hope it wasn't meant this way, but its one of my biggest pet pieves when people act like their current car is the only one worth modifying or driving. It is possible to have an appreciation for cars in general.

risingson - and to top it off..it was his thread, so who cares what he wants to talk about man? Sites like this are for the love of cars in general, not just directed towards one. Nick will most likely come just because we're all the type of guys that sit on our butts at a computer and look up different styles, patterns of cars all day...when we see a car drive by that's modified in ANY way, we always acknowledge it whether its in a good way or bad, as well as just love doing mods and working on cars from fiberglassing custom sub boxes to putting on body kits/rims/suspensions and having a "unique" car that stands alone.
