The USMC will shortly be sending me to Colorado Springs for a 3 year tour. I've been there before on short trips, and I loved the place. Now that I am moving there, I'd like to learn a few more things about it.

I'll probably be working at Peterson AFB, although I might be elsewhere, don't know for sure yet. Plan on buying a house; what are some good areas, and what are some areas to avoid?

How many days of snow where you don't want to drive your G35 do you have? (I've got a coupe, plan on trading in my wife's Altima for a G35X soon)

What's emissions testing like? I plan on turboing my G; I was planning on getting the JWT TT kit when it gets CARB certified, but now it keeps getting delayed, I might go some other route. Is CARB certification necessary in CO?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks for any and all help!

Dave

There'll be maybe 5-25 days a year with any real snow on the ground. It's not too bad out here for a RWD car, especially one with traction control.

It's fairly strict. Check out www.AirCareColorado.com and I'd run it by them first.

It's dry here, bring lots of lotion and drink plenty of water. Get into the habit. Also you can't drink as much.

Hmm, I'm looking at the aircarecolorado site, and it looks like it only applies to the Denver/Boulder area, not inlcuding Colorado Springs, according to this map

Am I reading it right?

So, I will need a basic I/M. Wonder what the difference between a basic and enhanced is...

Or, since my car is an 05, I won't actually need to test it until 2009. Thats good, plenty of time for JWT to get CARB certification.

Thanks again

You might still need to do emissions, you'll find out when you get your new tags.

Dude, I'm stationed at Peterson. If you have any questions about the base let me know. I used to have the only Lakeshore Slate G35 sedan on base but someone else has one now. As far as emissions, I heard they were going to get rid of them in the Colorado Springs area by 2007 or something.

Well, it looks like I will be there around mid-August.

Any good tuners in the Springs area you would trust to turbo your G and dyno-tune it?

Thanks
