Let's be honest. How many miles before you topped 5,000 RPM?

I know the owner's manual says 1200 miles before you go over 4000 RPM.

Well I just turned 500 miles and a traffic "situation" demanded that I get into her a bit. Around 6800 Rs to be exact. And I have been regularly around 5000 ever since.

Just curious how the rest of you are adhering or NOT adhering to the break-in schedule.

Man...it's a tough task with this car...

Occasional high rev moments aren't going to hurt anything. Keep most of your driving within the spec and you will be fine. Certainly don't put yourself in harm's way because of some break-in myth.

Set your rev light to 4500rpm. Try to shift when u see it blink. If you see it turn solid, shift immediately. If doing so would in any way be dangerous to you or others, ignore it and shift when it is safe to do so.

on my way to maryland i95 was completly DEAD....i opened it up quick with about 200 miles on it just to see how it felt. I shut down quickly and drove normaly after that. I do the occasional 5k rpm shift. With my coupe i beat the hell out of it rite away because it was a 12 month lease.

Honestly all that brake-in stuff doesnt apply as much to the new technology that is out....it stills probably important, but def not as important as it was 10-20 years ago.

I have about 600 miles on it rite now, once this weather clears up ill be just about ready to feel this thing lol.

As a matter of fact, I hear many people saying that its actually not a bad idea to start driving your car hard right from the getgo. Anyway, I think I redlined mine the week I got it, but that was only a one time thing. But, I really didnt follow the break in schedule. I hit 100 on my way home from the dealer, they told me to drive it the way i wanted to and have fun, those days are gone with the break in. So i took their word for it, lol.

It's absolutely impossible to keep it under 4,000 all the time. The thing just revs up there so fast, I know mine visited the higher rpms a few times before the break-in was over, it can't be helped.

I don't have a sedan, but I took my 05 coupe over 5k line on the way from the dealer
I just wanted to make sure I got the car I wanted. And sure it was.

Only 3 miles after driving off the lot. The gas pedal is sensitive. I find it to be a challenge to get a shift below 3K from 1st to 2nd.
