How Did You Choose Between G35S & G35X?

What are the major differences? Obviously the all wheel drive seems like a better deal to me??? Am I missing something? Can someone help me out. I have an Acura TL now and think it is time to either get all wheel drive or Rear wheel. Does the X come in stick?

I am in the same boat, debating on S or the X. For my case, I should get
the X since I live in Chicago, but I like the S appearance a lot better.
I don't know why the X sit .6" higher than other models, I believes the X
in the previous years are the same height.

If I live somewhere with no worry about snow I could get the S for sure.
Bigger (and good looking) wheels, sportier look, bigger brakes, cheaper,
better gas mileage, etc......

The X has always sat a bit higher than the rwd version.

Even though I live in a winter climate, I chose the G35S because I wanted the sport seats, paddle shifters, side sills, and VLSD. I was thinking of getting the X, however I went with the S for the features I mentioned above. A set of 4 good winter tires will do me just fine.

3 1/2 years ago, it was fairly easy. I didn't want to wait another 3 months and probably pay $3000 more for the X to be introduced

Really? The specs I found online show Pre-97 X had the same height
as the regular G35. I guess the info I got was wrong.

I've had AWD cars for every car I've owned, and 1 FWD car, so I live in Houston and AWD hasn't done crap for me, plus the power loss AWD cars have compared the RWD, and the RWD will be a new experience for me as I've never driven one that wasn't a truck.

The one thing to note is that all AWD cars I've owned have greater power loss from the crank to the wheels then FWD or RWD cars do. They (AWD cars) will also be heavier.

So if you want to maximize power under normal driving conditions, lean more toward RWD.

If you want to maximize acceleration in snowy conditions, go AWD.

two weeks ago i traded my 04 acura tl sixspd with 18" loaded for a 07 G35s sixspd premium package, i could not be happier, my acura at 43g miles started to feel tired and i was always having alignment problems, the rims from acura scratched easily and with low profile tires rims got screwed easily, not to mention god awlful torque steer, now with 15 more hp i could not imagine, i choose the G35s becouse to me there is nothing like rearwheel drive for just pure fun, i got a G35x as a loaner and the auto was smooth and shifted very quickly, if you choose the x get better tires and the car will perform amazing! i happen to have a 99 toyota 4x4 so thats my work and bad weather auto! drive both The G35s and x and make the choice, i think you will choose the G35s!! goodluck

In case you care, it is pretty tough to find sports with nav in Chicago.
They are around, but expect to pay more

S can be had with 6MT

X can only be had with 5AT

Do you really need any other reason to buy an S?

my reasoning for choosing the X was two-fold

1) i was told the S leases higher than the X? (not sure the truth in that and that wasnt the main reason anyway)

2) I am going from a coupe to the X and figured I'd just try something new - i had 2001 altima before the coupe, so I did FWD, did RWD, now I wanna give an AWD sedan a shot.

No doubt about it the S has a nicer appearance and a few cooler options - not to mention that cool S! but for me it was just really a "try something new" situation
Plus I figured I'd really like to see how an AWD sedan compares in the NY Snow to the RWD coupe.

Best thing I can tell you is maybe to give them both a test drive and go from there? and if money is a factor of course price them both - weigh all the pros and cons and then go with ur gut - either way ur gonna get a kick ass ride

good luck!

It seems that the dealership I went to had a lot G35x's left over, and were trying to push them out as much as possible, offering [supposed] discounts. Makes sense, since they're probably not going to sell many AWD vehicles in the warmer months. They even made it seemed as if they didn't have any RWD G35 sedans to test drive (sure!), which I had initially asked for.

So, I had chosen the X due to its abundant supply & various discounts.
