Hello all!!!

Im about to pull the trigger on a G35

I currently own a lightning and love it...i mean love it, but i think its time to move on...i just had a baby, and plan on having another soon and gas is scaring me away.

From what ive read most people dislike their gas mileage, but mine is like 9-12 mpg so thisll be a nice economy car for me. HA!

My biggest concern is that i have always wanted to hit the 12.xx sec 1/4 mile mark...my lightning can achieve this easily but like i said i think its time to move on...how hard is it to achieve a 12.xx sec 1/4 time with a g??? (yeah i know wanting a fast car with good gas mileage is kinda an oxymoron)

also this is my 1st import car...ive owned pretty much ford's my whole life...in my mustang, a great mod was rear-end gears. i dont see rear end gears for sale for g's...is this something that isnt done or is there a different system???

There's plenty of people here on the site that get over 20mpg on Forced Induction motors. So coming from 9-12, i think 20+ is going to be a blessing for you (i was in the same boat as you with my old chevy silverado) In order to get into 12's you'll need Forced Induction for the G35, simple bolt ons dont do much for our motors since they squeeze most of the potential out of them from the factory. There are different rear end gears for the G's, 3.4's 3.9's and so on.

First off welcome to family (almost )

Second, do a little nosing around in the technical section. There is a wealth of information there about the full range of options for mods. I'm not sure you'll be happy being so used to the domestics though. There is just no comparing the bang for your buck you can get with the domestics over the imports (at least ours anyway). You can do a lot with these cars but you will likely spend some money to do it.
