Hello All...
Just purchased an '04 G35 6MT Coupe about three weeks ago from Sewell Infiniti in Dallas. The car was a one-owner trade-in and I purchased it as a certified preowned with a warranty to 100k miles. It has 41k miles and seems to be in great shape. I believe the color is Twilight Blue.
I sold my '01 CLK55 AMG and purchased this one instead. Why?
Before the CLK I had a Lexus IS300 Single Turbo making about 400 whp and I loved it but the car was a nightmare. It always needed tuning and was not reliable at all. I switched to a fast car out of the box (i.e. the CLK55) then after a while I started to miss the 400 whp. I was going to do a supercharger on the CLK but then realized that I'd be throwing away $12k on a 6-year old car that will always be a maintenance problem.
I decided to go with something that has a ton of mods available and that has a plug-n-play type of FI kit available. I looked at all the tuners out there and all the aftermarket items and it came down to essentially 4 Japs... the 350z, the STI, the EVO VIII and the G356MT. For obvious reasons, I went with the G.
Before I take the plung into FI and mods, I plan to drive the car stock for a few months and learn its limitations... (I'm already experiencing some serious understeer and I need to figure that out first before I do anything).
Sorry for the long-winded intro but I think it's always better to say who you are and why you're here. Here are some pictures...

nice, got the brembo's. for a tuner car i would have went with the evo or Sti since they take mods very well and is FI out of the box. and mods are relatively cheap compared to the G. good choice though. the G is definitely more refined and luxurious. are you plannin on building the engine when you go FI or run low boost on the stock block? whatever you decide just get a really good tune and you'll be good.

For the IS300, I did the head gasket to lower CR and ran 16 psi, but then I blew the engine and ended up buying a stock 2jzgte (supra tt) block.
I'm probably going to do a basic low compression kit first and see how it feels.
The mistake I made with the Lex was doing everything all at once. This time, I'm going to be patient and step it a little at a time so that I can truly experience how the car reacts to each mod and how I feel...

yeah, thats how it should be.
take little baby steps, and test out your new mod,
and if everything seems right, then go ahead and add something new!
very good thinking!
Very nice. I am here in Dallas area as well. Lets share some thoughts. I think there will be a G35/350Z this coming Sunday. Go to Jotech Motorsports and ask for Tony for details. Man, I won't be in town for this though. It would be the second meet since I have my G.
