I too was looking at the TL-S but the dated styling and the torque steer really turned me off. I went to the Acura forums and some of the people there were making comments about the rattles due to the stiffer suspension in the type S. So for me those three strikes swayed me towards the G and coming from my IS300, a car which I loved and now don't miss one bit I guess you would say I am very happy with my purchase. The only thing I don't like is the short maintenance intervals recommended by Infiniti.

I would have to completely disagree with the comment above^ I test drove an X-type before buying my IS300 and couldn't see paying over $30K for a Ford Taurus. Everything felt cheap and the car had no power. But that is just my opinion.

Good Luck with your choice

different folks different strokes i guess. Its actually based on the Ford Mondeo, not Taurus...but never the less i loved the car. It had a good amount of power, especially in the beginning of its time against similar cars...it was plenty fast...yes it could have used some more along the production line

whats funny is, i cant see myself buying a lexus...i cant justify the price for a Toyota with some more wood

All an Infiniti is is a Nissan with a Mt Fuji instead of an Hamburger and an Acura is just a Honda with the top of the H squeezed in a little. Actually in some countries what we badge as Acura's here are badged Hondas.

I do agree with you that different people have their opinion and no ones is "wrong" but I couldn't see paying for a car I didn't like and to me felt like an old persons cars (Jag). The Lexus I got (IS300) has no Toyota equivalent in the states at the time so wasn't really paying for a rebadged toyota. My in-laws just got an 08 accord and I actually think it was as nice as if not nicer than the TL-S I was looking at. So why pay the extra 10K for the Acura. Just my $.02

I still say you can't go wrong with any of the following:
IS350
G35
335i
TLS

Drive them all, decide which you like the best. They're all different and all good.
I don't think that's a fair comparison. The TLS is the only FWD car.

Living in the ice belt of Indiana, I did not think a RWD car would be safe given all the miles I drive. So, for me, it came down to the TLS or the G35x which was a little more.

Picked up my G two weeks ago. The deciding factors for me where:

the looks of the G (I think it has such a wonderful understated power look. That long hood is beautiful.)
interior feels more luxurious
still has the sport (306hp)
Being AWD with the long hood, the balance is much better.

I was really impressed with the TLS. Much more than I thought I would be. The paddle shifters are great (didn't want to get a sport, may do the DIY mod). But a cassette deck? Are you kidding me? In a $38k 2008? It's like Acura decided in 2003 that they were going to do a remake in 2009 so they did nothing but a few cosmetic tweaks since. I much prefer my 9.3GB hard drive and CF reader than a cassette deck.

That fact told me that the TLS had not gotten any love from Acura in a long time. It would have been so easy to remove the cassette and put in a USB port or memory card reader or a hard drive. I may be nitpicking but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Rant over...
