Smile Soon to be.

Hello all.
I am looking to purchase a G35 (04-06 years) with my fiancee to whom I recently got engaged with.
I currently sport this car (sorry for the big photos)

But will be moving onto something different.

I actually joined and posted since I had a few questions.

In the 04-06 years, whether in AT or 6speed, what are some things I need to look for mechanically-wise? I am honestly not familiar much with nissan's engines particularly the acclaimed VQ motor that is housed in the G35s. Any information of any kind is greatly appreciated in advance and I hope to see you guys again here soon within the coming year when I purchase!

Thank you for your time.

Hello and welcome to the driver. The MAIN complaint I think would be the oil consumption issue with the 05 6MT Rev-Up engine (which I have, but have had not problems with). It seems to be a hit and miss problem. Search the threads for this issue and look into it. I don't believe the 04 or 06 nor the 5at in any year has this problem. Other than that I think the only other major complaint are the dash rattles. Which compared to the 00 Eclipse I came from are VERY VERY minor. There is a thread about "what you hate about your G" that you might check out (I HATE sending ppl to the freaking thread! ). But you will also notice the main complaint are the dash rattles.
Good luck on your purchase and I know if you get a G you will more than likely LOVE it!
Amanda

Yes I read the threads but I just wanted to see if there were any more that people would be pointing out. I have a few other vehicles in mind it all will come down to where I am with the fiancee by summer/fall of this year.

09 mazda 3 (yes .. I know .. I know..)
05 toyota mr2 spyder
...
there is a huge difference between owning a new car and a used car, it will all boil down to insurance rates, gas, and what my family, my fiancee, and I all discuss and outweigh which is best for me and what I am looking for.

my .02 ( I am not your fam or fiancee, so it doesnt matter, but I am a chick so I am obligated to give it anyway lol)!
09 - higher ins, you will pay more in the end for buying a new car. After 1 yr it depreciates by at LEAST 30%, so you will be paying for a car worth less than you owe for at least 2-3 years. I am a paralegal for a bankruptcy firm, I know this well b/c it keeps us in business.
Spyder - only in my opinion - Ugly , considered more of a sports car so ins will probably be higher, *slower* hehehe, and only 2 seats. If your brother or sister wants to ride with you and your girl....too bad.
Anyway, good luck again with your choice. I know how difficult it is. However I ALWAYS try to steer ppl away from buying a new car.
Use this calculator and PAY ATTENTION to what the FINAL price for your car will be. http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/Cal...FQTCDAodU0rvCQ Be sure to expect to pay higher interest rates right now (unless they offer the 0% for 5 years, then beware balloon payment), around 5-7% depending on your credit. You will be upside down on ANYTHING you buy new for min 2 years.
Just friendly advice. I hope you find what you are looking for, be it G or *ugly* lol Spyder.

I GREATLY appreciate the feedback, Amanda.
True so many factors come into when deciding the 'right' vehicle to choose..
I've thought over so many possibilities in the past few months.. Ahhh... !!
We shall see, but my main primary goal is to get the G
I just wish I could get a spanking NEW G35 (Don't like 37s, sorry!) coupe. non used.

Eh, let someone else drive it slow for the "breaking in" period, lmao! It is possible to find one with very low miles though. Someone else that just joined the forum got one with 17K or close. Nobody I know believes mine is an 05, they all think it is a brand new car. It was well taken take of. And it had 56K when I bought it. I am not a fan of the G37 myself.
Again gl with your decision, I hope you find what is right for you! (Pssst, G35 G35 G35) lol j/k. I know its tough making a decision like this that you will spend a good penny on and probably keep a long time. The G isn't for everyone. There was a thread on here about a guy that bought one and hated the stiff suspension and torque - IMAGINE!!! I told him he shoulda bought a Lincoln.

Well I used to own a 04 coupe, I loved it but sold it at the time since I couldn't afford insurance. (I was only 17 - parents got it for me as a graduation gift and no they never spoiled me in my life), but I was responsible for insurance, a few speeding tickets later.. my premiums went up. eek.
But now I am back, and I AM a torque junky, and my current ride is lowered on coilovers so I don't mind the stiff (in this case :-) ).

My fiancee is praying I get the G, but it will all boil down to what happens when and where this coming summer
Im praying for the G as well.. I've read all the ups and downs on this forum about the G as well as personal experience, I wouldn't come back to it if I didn't miss it. It's a sentimental feeling.

It usually circles back around. Hum, my first car was a 92 Eclipse black with a white stripe up the pass side (no paint). It was nicknamed the skunk. That was in 97. I got a 00 in 01 and loved that car. Those are the only cars's I've owned with exception to my 95 Del sol which was more a sunday driver (targa top ) I believe if you AND your fiancee are leaning *heavily* toward the G that is more than likely what you are going to be getting. I think you should get the 6MT (don't settle for the at) and a sedan, hehehe, I'm a little partial. No kiddo's yet huh? I imagine the coupe will suit you better for now though. No one ever expects you to blow them out of the water in the sedan....kinda a sleeper, lmao!

I would opt for a 6mt no doubt, but I hear of oil consumption issues with the standards?? I would love it since it's a rev-up ... ahh well AT or 6MT either one is perfectly fine wit me. I just want the G back.. hit the g spot. pun intended, seriously when I drove that car back in the day I seriously felt myself getting hard.

There is a reason I detail my seats every weekend . Hehehe, I know exactly what you mean. I would never settle for the AT, course, I didn't even test drive one. Not a compromise for me. But that's just my 0.02. A G is a G, and having one period means the world. But I waited 3 months to find the perfect one, 6MT. The other runner up's (MazdaSpeed6, BMW3 series, etc) all had to be manuals too...4 doors and stick, anything else was negotiable. I'm a chick, so I'm a LITTLE picky, lmao!!! The oil con. prob is a hit and miss. I have the 05 Rev-Up, and no problems. Its' like a scalded dog. I love rolling down my window when I blow those little punks off the road and show them I'm a chick. (unless they have turbo, then I just admire the taillights, lol).
