Possibly getting g35, need advice

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are on a way to have what we call "dream garage". He drives 04 350Z, and i am about to get my hands on my absolute dream car, a G35 Coupe.
With our finances, right now, and for quite a long time to come in the future, every G35 in our price range of about 15K, has higher mileage. The one that i am thinking of getting is a 2005, at 84K miles, and i have never ever financed a car that had over 20,000 miles let alone 84,000. I know these cars are good, but i am still anxious about it. It's a one owner car, carfax is clean, and service records are there. It was purchased brand new, and just got traded in.
What are your thought on this?
Also, what is the difference between base and sport? Besides the rear spoiler? I did some research, and it seems there is not too much difference, but some 11HP. I also managed to find someone who sells rear spoiler painted, so should this impact my decission between base and sport coupe?
I wish i could get lower mileage one, but negative equity in my VW beetle is killing me, and i need that car gone-yesterday!

Thanks in advance!

For 15k i'm sure you could find one with less miles. Buying a car isn't something you should rush. I waited 3 months searching for the right one. Be patient. It's worth a shot to look at cars for sale on here, they tend to be cared for better anyways and you can ask the actual owner questions. Buying a car with 84k miles is out of my comfort zone, but in the end your the one buying the car, so it's up to you.

As far as the difference between base and sport, there really isn't much. Slightly different body kit and different suspension are the first ones that come to my mind. I'm sure there's more that I just can't think of right now.

Thanks for your reply. I have a trade with negative equity in it. I bought my 2010 beetle and shorty after new line was released, which brought the value down considerably. I need to deal with dealership, and financing, so buying from private party isn't an option for us. I tried selling my bug, but nothing ever happened.

That's a bummer. As long as the maintenance record is good, I would say you should be fine. Obviously go through the normal checklist before you buy it. Since the z and g are so similar, your husband should be able to take a look at the car, test drive it and determine if it's worthy to buy. Best of luck and be sure to post some pics if you end up buying it.

I would say do the financially responsible thing and drive the beetle for a few more years...

Where are you located?

Just be patient. One will show up and it will be worth the weight. At least you will know the engine because it's the same w/ the 350Z

Keep looking! I bought mine last week after 2 months of searching, and found a clean 04 with 65k for under $14k. Good luck

Easy for u to say, ur not the one driving a beetle. U should get the turbo one in Albany for 14k listed on here. Good luck with search although this thread is in the wrong section.

Also if the one ur looking at is wingless (no spoiler) u will be able to find people on here who will pay to swap their winged trunk lid for ur wingless. It seems that since so many G came with spoiler, wingless (no spoiler) is more valuable.
