Feel like I already know you!

Hello everyone,

My name is Mike. In the past I have almost always had Full Size GM trucks or SUVs. They are great in the winter, and were great for hauling my motorcycles. Started out on *** 600s and eventually graduated to the liter bikes. So while my experience with the 4 wheeled vehicles has been primarily American, I have plenty of *** knowhow with me as well which includes braking, suspension, and tire chemistry/physics. These seem to be popular topics of debate on this forum. Sold the bikes and needed to get something fun under me again! A lot of you indirectly helped me pick my next car!

I really wanted a 2010 G37xS which was really the top of my price range. After poking around here for a bit and finding the oil burning TSBs for the 09-10 sedans, I realized I would wait to buy the 2011 or 12 model until after I purchase my first house. Lower debt to income ratio is always key there! So the next best thing was the 2008 G35xS. I knew I wanted black interior with silver or black exterior with nav, low miles, and in excellent condition. Found one at a Nissan dealer in Frederick, MD, booked a flight and had it in my possession next day. Black with a black interior and 51k miles. The paint looks better than the 2012's around here. Quite a fun road trip back up to Boston!

Look forward to finding the previous owner of this one. It was debadged in the rear (leaving the G35xS emblem) and it has Takeda short ram intakes. Everything else is stock. OO one more, the fog lights come on with the auto headlights every time. Clearly a combo of mods that belong to an enthusiast.

Hopefully the mod combos don't bite you in the butt. You have some knowledge- any plans for your new baby?

What do you mean by the mods biting me in the butt? As in give me the mod bug? Always have had it, always will!

On the more immediate list:
1. I would like to push the factory ipod cable connection, cable, and charging adapter down under the console to free up some space leaving only the extension sticking out.
2. hardwire my beltronics radar but may spring for the integrated unit before I dive in.
3. Exterior LEDs: Plate, clearance lights, front and rear blinkers, and figure something out with those ugly fogs. May wire them up to work with the blinker if I can find an amber LED.
4. I need a light tint to all of the windows.
All relatively cheap and fun mods that make an impact.

I have been thinking about getting 2 sets of staggered sport wheels and use the rears for the summer set, selling the fronts for someone with an X, and keeping my current sports for winter. The go for about $600 a set once in a while so it wouldn't be a huge investment.

I have a corporate job and will not get too aggressive with it. I am trying to focus on mods that can swap over to a 2011-12 in a year or two but, an exhaust and tune is very tempting! Who am I kidding, a twin turbo kit is tempting. My friend and I Cobb tuned his 335i x drive after intake and exhaust. After spending a good amount of seat time in that, the power becomes addicting. I may just need to 1 up him!

I typically keep my eye on problem areas. Ex: In this car's case the brakes are know to fail. If they do I will be adding high quality drilled/slotted rotors with EBC pads. BAER doesn't seem to make rotors for the g35. Sad. I always used their drilled/slotted on my trucks and the difference was night and day! Their lifetime warranty against warping doesn't seem to exist with the competition. I will have to research more there and am open to experience. Brembo made killer parts for the 1000rr but who knows what they are pushing out for cars (stock sized of course).
