sunroof stuck solution

Hey guys, I joined this site just to post this thread to help anyone with this problem. I have an '07 G35X that had for a few years now and I love it. That is until today when the sunroof decided to stop working. I live in Westchester N. Y. and we've had thunderstorms all week. I left work early to go to the dealer and see if they could help. they told me the motor was shot and would cost $800 and two days to order. I politely said, "Thank you" and drove home thinking "duct tape can fix anything". I found this site and set me in the right direction. If your sunroof is stuck open, closed, tilted up, this is what you need to do. Sorry I don't have any pics, but it's pretty self-explantory. All you need is a flat head and a phillips screwdriver. You DO NOT need to remove the headliner. Start by prying down the outer plastic cover holding the roof switch, the side closest to the headliner. Once down you need to pry off the roof switch, bluetooth mic, and both led's. Next will be a white plastic cover, free everything you can to give you room. The wires are short and you need to remove the switches to gain acess to the three screws holding the motor in place. You will ony see two scews, the third can be accessed by removing the black sunglass cover retainer/lock from above. If your lucky all three screws will still be there. If not, you must remove one and size up the same depth, thread count, screw. No exceptions, there is a reason for this. All three screws go through the motor and barely thread into the housing. I think it's to prevent over torquing of the motor. Use loctite when putting it back. With the motor hanging free, cycle the switch, fully open, closed, or tilted up, depending on your situition. The motor will rotate full left, right, and then tilt which is a little left or right. Play with the cycle until you get it right. When it's in snyc, bolt the motor back in, and test. If good, reverse switch install. Hope this helps.
