Newbie tire question

Hi
I'm about as newbie as it gets - I just bought a 2004 G35X and haven't even taken delivery yet. However, I seem to have already made my first mistake. I bought used winter tires on rims from someone who had gotten rid of his G35 (not sure what year - he said 2010, which would make it a G37 I think). The tires are 225/50/17 for front and 235/50/17 rear. The stock size for mine is 215/55/17. Is this gonna work? I am concerned about wheel offsets and the effect of the different diameters on the AWD and ESC/ABS. If necessary I could replace the 235's with 225's. Anybody got the answers?
Sorry if this is an old topic - I haven't searched extensively

There is a thread dedicated to this, but with my lesser knowledge I would say that you are okay and that running those tires should be fine.

After reading over 100 posts it seems this is not a yes or no answer - my conclusion (so far) is that it is not recommended but not strictly prohibited either. I would not do it if I didn't already have the tires, but it seems they will probably not hit anything and the 1.5% diameter difference is below the 3% threshold for the ATTESA so I think I'lll give it a try. Others reported no problem even over the 3%. I guess if nothing feels funny and no warning lights come on then I'm good to go.

Any comments anyone?

First off, offsets have nothing to do with the VDC being happy. As long as your tire's diameter F/R is within 3% of each other you will be fine so the new setup will work for you. It absolutely is a yes or no answer, stick to the 3% rule and all is well.

Thanks for the confirmation Blue. I know the ofsets make no difference to the VDC, only to whether the tires hit anything. From what I've read there seems to be a lot of room in these wheelwells so within reason offset can vary (as long as the rim doesn't hit the caliper)

Hello again
Now that I actually have the car my concern is that the winter tires will stick out 10 - 13 mm more than stock due to 35mm offset vs stock 45. From actual measurements it looks to me like a problem but is it?
