Checkin' In!
Checkin' In!
Hello All,
Old guy with a "new" car saying hello. Brief history, just yesterday I took delivery of an '05 G35 Sedan from a local lot. I really rely on older, Japanese Luxury cars to transport me in my marketing/sales territory in the middle of Pennsylvania.
My previous, but still owned, DD was an 02 Acrua TL. Without a doubt, new or used, IT was THE most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I dug it out of a junk yard as a totaled reconstruct and it was gold. Neither of those conditions lasted long. I am a paid hobbyist with body and paint experience. As a collector of some classic American Muscle, I am self taught but do a good bit of side work in my 1 bay garage. I bought the TL with 125 on the clock and it is now pushing 225K. . . .never missed a beat.
It is my hope. . .no prayer that my G will be as reliable. It was the AWD that attracted me to the Infiniti brand. Often, I must drive in some crappy, winter weather. I have had Nissan company cars in the past and found them to be rather enjoyable so I took a chance. I would say that while my G is only 3 years newer than the TL, it feels a lot more solid and a bit more powerful. I feel guilty cheating on the Acura but could not pass up the G for the money and features.
I am confident that I will have many questions and have much to learn. On some of the other forums I participate on I like to help people, if I am able, by sharing my experience with body and paint work coaching/advice! I hope to give more help than I get from this forum as well.
Because I have no problems painting parts, I will be exploring some cosmetic upgrades. Other than that, I have a driver's front bearing that is loud. . . mechanically sound and solid but noisy! That will be my first objective with this car. I understand that there is a step by step write up on the bearing hub replacement procedure on this forum. Until I master the search function on the site, if anybody could quickly point me there I would be grateful.
Thanks for reading. I'm interested in hearing back from folks, especially those who might live near me in PA!
Regards,
Brent
