Hello, I just recently purchased a 2006 g35 (auto) as my new daily. It has 162,000 miles on it. Firstly, the fuel gauge only reads right when it wants to. Secondly, whenever I fill it up, it doesn't want to start. I started off by thinking it was the fuel pump, but lastnight I fueled it up and noticed that when it finally busted off, it shot out a decent cloud of black smoke. So is it flooding the car? If so ... then why?

The only way it can flood is if the ECM tells it to. Are you throwing a CEL? Have you have the OBD2 read at AutoZone?

Catalyst is getting hot from the rich mix. Evap may be dumping raw gas into the motor.
