Cool I just bought an 05' Ivory Pearl MT Coupe!

Hi everybody!

After years of dreaming of having this car, I've finally done it! Bought the coupe close to where I live in Northern California. Thrilled to have it and also be a part of this community.
  • 2005
  • Manual Transmission
  • Premium Package
  • Splash Guards (yuck?)
  • Ivory Pearl !!!
  • Stone Interior
  • Bone Stock, No Mods !
  • 68k Miles
  • $12,900 !

Working on getting the full list of service records from the OO. I bought it from the second owner who used it as a weekend car. He's put on only 2,000 miles in the last 5 years!!! I got everything that came with the car straight from the dealership including the keychains, the manuals, an Infiniti pen and even the window sticker!

I have a couple of questions and may need some suggestions!

First things first, here she is !

I'm not sure how much service has been done recently, so I'm going to take it for a full point inspection and get everything looked at in-depth. The only cosmetic flaw I could find was that the molding (or side trim rubber is peeling off), as shown in the picture below. Any way I could replace this, or remove it all together? I'm also debating on removing the splash guards. I'm really wanted a clean OEM look. I only want to add clear corners with artic whites (I hear they are best?)

If anybody has any suggestions on journals / diaries that I could possibly get some ideas from, or a list of sorts. My main goals now are just to make sure everything is okay on the car, and when any future parts need to be replaced, IE clutch, timing chain, sensors.. etc.

Otherwise, I plan on getting non-bump clear corners with LED's. A nice K&N Filter setup (suggestions? price isn't a huge issue). I'd like to tint the windows a little bit and then some nice rims (maybe Racing Hart 4's) in the future. I'll also be very temped to add an aftermarket wing, probably the ironing board. A spacer of sorts.. a catback of sorts eventually etc etc. Nothing major.

If YOU just got this car, what would you do? Thanks for everything!!

Oh also, can anybody help with this issue with the side molding and/or side trim.. or removing it completely would look nice or? Not sure, here's a picture:

Thanks everybody!!! So excited to be here!!!

I am also a fan of the OEM+ build. Exactly what I've been doing for the last few years.

Get caught up with the maintenance and then I'd upgrade the suspension...you'll understand why.
A set of sway bars and endlinks and it will feel so much firmer in the corners.
I do agree, I'm not a huge fan of the wingless trunk so I'd get the board on there.

Rip off that piece, as replacing it is going to cost more than you'd hope.

Make sure to keep an eye on the oil level.

Congrats on a very clean find!

Some mods I would start with:

06+ projector headlights
get the front grille painted black
skip the wing in mho, so clean without it
consider a partial debadge for a cleaner trunk
wheel spacers are always nice

Call the dealer for the rubber strip, you can also find it online by part#. I ended up paying about $90 for each side, which was way too much for what it is. It will look bad if you just tear it off.

Hit me up if you are going to get rid of the front splash guards, I will take them off your hands

Those 06 projectors will run you about $600 used , I even had an auto wrecker tell me $400 a piece lol. Performance mods are the way to go. get a license plate frame for the rear, it looks weird without one.

Congrats on the new ride, it looks fantastic. Very clean... I suggest keeping it that way. It seems the previous owner took good care of it.

I'd start with the easy cosmetic mods: tint, clear corner lights, and OEM spoiler if that is your preference.

IMO wingless trunks look weird and bare, unless you have a modified G35 with rims and body kit.

Nothing wrong with the splash guards; you're just not used to it. Most coupes have them.
As far as the peeling trim, try gluing it back on cleanly. Its not really that noticeable to begin with, so just stick it back on properly.

Thanks for all the helpful replies!!!

I've ordered only a few small things, as I just shelled out all the money for the car!

- Clear Corners (Non-Bump). These were hard to find, holy crap!

- T10 Bulbs for Clear Corners & other stuff like the license plate

- Infiniti Logo Projector (Got the last one on Amazon that just has the simple white logo instead of the circle and red stuff, looks amazing)

- OPT7 Interior LED Kit

Will post pics when I get a chance!

Next upgrades (after another month): Tint, OEM Spoiler, possible debadge a little bit. Otherwise, I want this car to have a very stock OEM look.

Thanks all!!!

Yeah I don't like the bumpy ones either, i got the smooth ones and only paid about $10-$15 for them if i remember correctly. Those clear corners immediately improve the overall look of the car. Those orange ugly markers are bleh.

where in the hell did you get them for that cheap? I was about to get them from a friend for free, but he ended up selling them. I paid $75 and even that was hard to haggle for, and hard to track down!! They are JDM though

But it's gonna be so worth it. Clears on Ivory Pearl or bust!!!

When I searched I seen the "nismo jdm clears" and all that going for 50, 60 80 and I was like wtf, for some clear corners? I just checked and the place i bought them from them still has them, $17.98 a pair.

Killer price! I had to pay 11,8 for my 04 6mt with 100k miles. If you want to ditch the splash guards, I might be interested. As far as what I've done to mine:
I did a slight tint in the tails, so they are a dark red, and still fully transparent
tinted the front corners
blacked out the "diffuser"
Wheels were painted black when I bought it
25mm spacers in the back
debadged the whole back end
blacked out the front grill
Just recently installed a spoiler I bought off of here for $30, was already painted black. Needs repainted, don't know whether to color match the car or not...

as far as the trim goes, I just remembered mine was peeling too. I cut it off. Completely forgot it about it for 2 months until I saw your post here, so it's not noticeable at all.

Link to my car, dont wanna jack the thread with pics.
