EVO VIII Owner considering early VQ35HR Sedan

Hey guys, new to the forum and not a G owner yet but I wanted to go ahead and register.

I had a 240sx 3 cars ago and now that i'm starting a family and yearning for RWD again I figured a VQ35HR powered G35S would be great.

Once I got all the bugs worked out the EVO has been good but I'm tired of the constant fear of yet another $3000 transmission build or DIY clutch replacement. It's not an easy car to work on.

I'm mostly interested in finding ways to make the sedan useful on track and at the autocross. Not FTD useful but "beat up on the new guys in way faster cars useful" I plan to have about an 8-10k budget from the EVO once I sell it and the only "power" mods would be intake and exhaust, mostly for the sound.

I'm here to see what's available for the sedans that are half G35 half G37. All the parts catalogs at vendors seem to skip this car so i'll be diving into the handling sections of the forum and lurking.

Anyway, here's my current ride, see you guys in the threads!

Lol not cool ^

I have 3 friends with Evos, all of them with major engine failure or transmission failure. Won't see me buying an EVO anytime soon.

If you want the G35S, it is an odd year that uses some components form the G37 and many of its own "test" parts for the new platform.

Since you like modding I would recommend just getting the G37S. Good luck through the season with the EVO!

Yup my cousin has an evo 8 and the tranny vibrates like crazy and sounds like it's going to fall apart. And it over boost. But evo owners swear they got the holy grail of imports 😂😂😂

OP,

I would suggest like UE mentioned to get a G37 over the 08-09 G35S. Should be easy to find a good deal now that winter is on it's way.
