Hey guys, newbie here. Purchased my first car ever a few days ago, its a 2003 Infinity G35 with 194000km. Can't say I know too much about cars, but I have plans for the infinity ill put underway as soon as I can find an insurance company to insure me without me paying an arm and a leg. Lowest quote I got so far is $455 per month.
I hope to learn lots from you guys, if you guys have any advice please don't hesitate to shoot me a message.
Some issues that need to be fixed and the dash needs a good clean

Thanks deeliciousqueen! I am a 20yr old male. Yes the car is fully paid off, I've been saving for it for quite some time now. Yes I am from Canada and $455 is the quote I got for my monthly insurance payment (if I choose to pay my insurance monthly) with the bare minimum coverage (oh and this quote if from TD Insurance). That means every year ill have to pay $5460 in insurance premium.
LOL P.S sorry for the blunder, ill fix the "I" right away :P
Wow that's a lot of $$ just for insurance, I am not from ca but I would suggest shop around and see who gives u better deal. All maintenance questions you may have are all over the forums and DIY's as well.

Nice car n congrats!
Yh I've been shopping around and ill keep doing so. Idk if ill be any use in the DIY department though but I can always give it a shot
Yer dumb af if you keep that car unless you can find $75/mo or less.
ScraggleRock you obviously know nothing about car insurance in Ontario, especially in Toronto. $75 a month for a 20yr old male, as a primary driver on his own policy is practically impossible. You wouldn't even get that on a Honda Civic. All my friends my age who are insured under their parents as primary drivers in a car pay upwards of $80 a month. You should try researching insurance prices in Ontario and you'll see what I mean.
MacSpeedy, no offense but I'm with Scraggle. It's ludicrous to me to pay that much a month for a car that effectively has around 150K miles. I understand insurance is expensive where you live but you've got to be a big balla as a 20yr old to be able to even afford something like that and pay whatever bills you have. I'm assuming you don't live with the family since you're not on your parents policy.
If it were me I'd either find much cheaper insurance for the G or sell it or get a practical car. You're going to be dealing with a lot of maintenance issues as well as potential big repairs as your car ages and the fact you're not a DIY guy makes those costs effectively double. Good luck with whatever you choose.
For that same $455 per month you could be driving a brand new BMW or Benz! That kinda $$ for car insurance is nuckingfutts! At your age I was at the same place, one year of college driving my second car and my insurance payments were thru the roof...you have options! Gary
Thanks guys for your concerns, to begin with, I had no intention of paying that price in the first place, it was just to give a reference of the quotes I was getting whenever I called an insurance company. I'd be a fool to pay that price, might as well drive without insurance as the fine is $460 cheaper even though that's not a good idea! Anyway I used a broker and I got a quote for $210 which will be split 3 ways. Although I'm happy with this, it doesn't hurt to keep searching. My broker told me to hold off on the insurance till I get my full licence in 2 weeks, the insurance price is expected to go down further. For someone my age, the cheapest ill get is probably somewhere in the one hundreds.
@Blue Dream ur right, maintenance will always be an issue with older cars, even though I'm not a DIY guy I'm not completely useless in that department, I just mean I'm not confident enough to rebuild an engine or transmission, that sort of stuff. It also helps that I have close friends who are mechanics. Just as I won't be paying the insurance alone, the maintenance will also be a collective effort.

So what did you do to bring it back down to a reasonable amount?
