Yeah you read that right, I have owned a 2003 350Z enthusiast forever...but my gf just picked up this bad boy complete with CVT and what appears to be sport package rims.
That's what I'm here for is to attempt to figure out how this thing got to Indiana, as well as how the eff I'm going to fix it if I'm buying parts for a G35 (We'll see how the new wheel speed sensor works but I doubt they would change that). The guy I bought it off said he got it from an import car dealer, so I'm thinking it was originally sold outside of the U.S., then brought here and re-badged as an infinity. It has infinity seats, steering wheel, first aid bag, etc. The spare tire is the same rim just less width and powder coated black. It definitely has a CVT though and the VQ35HR engine with dual throttle bodies. Driver side is on the left. 144k for $5,800.
Here's the vin plate...calls for the 5 speed, I'll climb underneath it and pull the trans S/N this weekend. When I test drove it I expected normal shifts and was completely thrown for a loop.
That is the stock transmission used in the 2002 Skyline GT350-8, when you have time you should pull the ECU code as well. I have a feeling either you have a split model year V36 with an earlier powerplant OR someone replaced the powerplant with an earlier model. Do you have the HR motor with two throttle bodies/intake tracts?
It's an 8 speed transmission and yes manual mode only uses the lower 5.
EDIT: Apparently it's also used in the Nissan Murano, maybe someone did a swap? ECU would paint a broader picture though. What country do you live in? It wouldn't surprise me if this was an Australian vehicle.
