Fuel level sending unit problems

The fuel level gauge on my '05 G35 functions when above 1/2. However, it seems to not drop any lower. I have removed both units, cleaned the sensors, and verified free movement of the float arm. It did not help. I am ready to replace the appropriate sensor, but which one do I replace? The one with the fuel pump, or the other. Thanks

Common problem. I had the exact same symptom recently. Had to solder some resistors on the cluster pcb. Search for a thread called "fuel guage problem - detailed" or something similar. It has lots of info about the proper operation of the sending units and a fix for the cluster if the sending units are working. I was able to fix mine with info from this thread. Cluster removal was tricky for me and i described those hiccups in my post.

Thanks for this information. I am new to this forum and had not searched for this problem with others. I found the thread and saw that it is a common problem. May have to try this. Thanks
