G35 Sedan V6 3.5L
Exclamation 2008 G35 Sedan throwing P0024 and U1000

Alright, last year my 2008 Infiniti G35 Sedan (V6 3.5L) had the check engine light come on. It was throwing the P0024 code for a Camshaft Position Sensor. I replaced the sensor and a week later, it came back. When I checked again, I saw that the clip that held the wires to the sensor was broken. I bought a new clip and spliced it in. That fixed it for a while. Then the light came back on recently. Now throwing the P0024 and a U1000 code with no ABS light. According to the code reader report for U1000, it says to replace fuses and repair the wiring harness. I saw in a similar thread a suggestion to check all the groundings. I've found the "Power Supply, Ground and Circuit Element" section in the manufacture manual and can see a diagram of the wiring harness, but I can't determine where to find all the grounds and if this is the best course of action. May or may not be related, but there are some lights out in the instrument cluster and the tach lights are intermittent. Please help!

U1000 just means one of the several computers isn't communicating properly back to the ECM.

When you replaced the cam sensor did you use a Hitachi or OEM Genuine Nissan Parts sensor? If not then that could be the issue with the P0024. Otherwise it's likely the magnet retarder going out.

Have you had any starting issues, dead battery, etc lately. Those can also cause a U1000 code. Personally I would clear the U1000 and see if it comes back, it's a pain in the *** to track down U1000 since you don't know WHICH computer isn't talking unless it's also throwing more codes. Do you have anything else on the vehicle that's not 100% functioning properly?

This is the sensor I got because it's the only one I could find that had the correct head and pigtails so I could splice it in.
Amazon Amazon

I haven't had any other issues with the car aside from the terminal cable being a little loose on the battery. The negative side popped off while I was driving Lyft one day, got a shim from the auto store and haven't had that issue since. The only other thing that is wrong was the intermittent lights on the tachometer and eng temp and fuel gauge lights are out. But those have been like that for a while, way before these codes popped up.

Ok these cars are pretty notorious for not playing nice with any aftermarket sensors, you should pick up a Hitachi cam sensor. They were the OEM manufacturer and it's cheaper than buying an OEM Nissan one.
